I've been humidifying it, ordered some Hide glue today so I'll repair the crack once that gets here. I'm guessing it got too dry sometime at the luthier's shop since my hygrometer reads ~45% humidity at all times. Other than that she's just fine and plays beautifully. Big difference in neck sizes between this 60's Gibby vs. my SG with the "60's" neck, the acoustic is much, much narrower.

Really..
I can think of weirder... like starcasters [shudders] I love icemen despite the Kiss connection... it's funny though I have the gibson version of those pickups in my early 80s destroyer

I tried to find some vids on the Modern Player Jazzbus but the only one on ooootube is a sneak peek and the demo-er doesn't crank so it's hard to tell how those pups are.
Hawt? Normal-ish?
Would love to get my hands on one of those.
After playing a bass with single coil pups for the better part of 12 years; I find myself drawn to the HB sound on bass. I'm wondering how easy it would be to drop a replacement set in there the stock ones are unsat. I've heard a pair of Kent Armstrongs in my buddies Carl Thompson that were amazing,...couldn't have been the bass.

i have been playing singlecoils in the exact same positions for the last 2 years and the main thing i've noticed is just everything is FULLER. the harmonics are incredibley rich and it fuzzes up very nicely. only given it a few full run throughs. Gave it a go with good volume today and the main thing i've changed is i set the eq flat on my amp.
i love this bass already. i may try and do a demo sometime but i'm pretty poor at that sort of thing. Any suggestions as to what you'd want to see/hear if i do one?

Just 1,2,3 go.
Clean and Fuzzed.
My gripe with the Fender GBI "demo" is they guy dicks around with all the cliche styles,...."Oh you can turn the bridge pickup volume down and and roll the tone all the way off and get the classic reggae sound",...which he didn't actually get because it is a little more than just fiddling with the knobs on your bass to get those tones. You have to alter your technique and where you play on the on the strings. I realize the demo was a "sneak peak" and he was just trying to appeal to a wide range of buyers,...just wishing there was something that showcases the bass a little more then trying to sell it.
At any rate,...just shutup and play and if you can; try to avoid cluttering your amp'd sound with audible unplugged string noise (if you follow). In other words,...turn it up a little.
