Yeah, absolutely! The weird thing about this amp is that with the exception of the volume knob, all of the tone controls have detents in the pots, so you can actually set it exactly the way you want it by feeling the clicks. Never seen an amp with that feature.Ancient Astronaught wrote:That's to be expected from any 30-40 year old amp. If you do flip def keep me in the loop, not that I can really spend money on anything due to my upcoming wedding but I might be able to make something work.ShaunNecro wrote:I've seen two, so yeah they are rare. From my experience, they need some work to get going again. Basically replacing the entire power module on mine. Huge transformer and huge can caps though. I might flip it once I bring it back to life though, just putting that out there.

Now thats freaking nifty!!!! Does it have two speaker outs? Also from what I read it gets "overdrive" after 1:00 on the volume, have you tried using the low gain input and cranking it see if it stays clean?ShaunNecro wrote:Yeah, absolutely! Yep, but its a 4 ohm minimum, so that is something to live with.Ancient Astronaught wrote:Now thats freaking nifty!!!! Does it have two speaker outs? I haven't attempted to get it that loud yet, I had it plugged into a small speaker when testing it, and it kinda ripped the dust cap. The amp is towards the end of the line, either sold in 1978 or 1979 (it still has the warranty card for the original buyer on it), so the schematic definitely doesn't line up exactly with whats actually going on in there. Hopefully it'll be back on it's feet next week before I head to vacation so I can let you know the validity of that statement.

Re: Craigslist and Ebay watch(doom specific)
I thought you were thinking about treating yourself to somthing tubey, the 160 is a tube head modeled somewhat after a v4, completely different than the 150. The 160 also has the brown woody look thing going on and honestly think it would look nice sitting on top of an emperor cab.ryan summit wrote:i literally just sold an ACC 150braaandooon wrote:An acoustic 160 would look real nice on top of that emperor cab. Yeah, that is pretty clean, but $700? I've looked at past prices, and I never saw that head go for more than $300.braaandooon wrote:http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/msg/4971679193.html

Re: Craigslist and Ebay watch(doom specific)
Yah, I like em. I've only played the 165 which is the combo version, loud as hell. Don't see too many around, kinda an under the radar amp. But pop up between $300-$500,sometimes more though. Think there is one on the bay sub $600 at this time.
I'm constantly haggling my buddy to sell me his 165 but he won't budge.
