Yeah, I only watched a few and mostly what I thought is that this is what people who will never watch hard anime think all hard anime is like.

The one series that comes very very close is Gurren Lagann. Nearly as insane, lots of laughs, the action is entertaining and completely over the top. Plus it has Yoko.

just read the bit up there about the anime butchering the manga for Elfen Lied. i....... will definitely be picking it up soonish then.

it's cliche, but i still love the classics. i watch Akira and Ghost In The Shell once a year usually. Ghost In The Shell always makes me want to watch that slow polish version of the Matrix for some reason. Avalon? i liked it. not as deep or OMGWTFBBQ STOP KILLING NATURE YOU STOOPID HUMANS as older anime it feels like, but a lot of the same pacing and unreality.

Anyone else watched Paranoia Agent? I liked that one a lot.

You're a classic. Been forever since I watched Akira and Ghost in the Shell, Akira bored me, but I liked Ghost in the Shell. Is that sequel or series they did worth watching?

i didn't like the series too much. taking somebody that loves meandering Gainaxy plots and gving them a series is..... not my idea of fun.

the second movie was an enjoyable mocie that would be a good movie if it didn't have to live up to being a sequel to GHOST IN THE FUCKING SHELL.

and you say classic, i hear "you sir, are getting OLD.". sigh.
