I'm so glad you are my fellow Ensoniq enthusiast! Such underrated gems. Two were on sale in my local craigslist for very little money. It was VFX for $200 and one town over the other was little further. Also $200, but I forgot which one. I can't rationalize anymore gear so I let them go. I don't want a 61 key keyboard.

Reading about this now. Could you in theory add more ram? You probably won't need it but just like I did for my laptops, replace the existing ram cards with more?

Well, I'm a sucker for the crude technology of the 90' and late 80's, which happens to be the time when Ensoniq had their prime. The DP/2 (and DP/4) in particular are really nice pieces of gear that still hold their own today.
I used to feel the same way about big keyboard that you do. Anything over 3 octaves was immediately unsexy, but as I've gotten more into actually playing the damn things, I've just come to accept that this is the way to get the most out of these instruments.
