Taxi is about 65 Euros (last I checked), and if you arrive at 5pm, you're bound to hit traffic and end up paying even more. The train is 10 Euros and takes half the time.

65? Seriously? Does anyone ever take a cab from the airport?

I assume some people do.

65 for a cab ride! You could circle around Paris twice for that, and have enough € left for a beer.
Train it is.

Back in my day you could circle around Paris twice on two hand shakes and a winning smile. Uphill both ways.
I have no idea what that means but I'm sticking with it.

Oh you crazy continentals!
It cost me €17 to get from our rehearsal room to the venue for our last gig. It was less than 2km.

But... Why?

Public transport is very much on the rise, and has been for some time
Plus, minimum wage is pretty high here, so taxi drivers are entitled to a certain amount of money. And gas is relatively expensive, despite Norway being an oil nation. 1,6 Euro per liter, I think. Taxis are mostly for rich business people or people that are so drunk they don't realize/care how much money they're spending.
TLDR; probably too many reasons. I probably take a cab 1-2 times a year, so I'm not sure.

You guys have no idea how fucking nice you have it w/r/t public transit, too.

I feel like I appreciate it. I don't even have a driver's license because I'm able to get around by subway/tram/bus.

Is cycling a thing in Norway?

Yep. I've got three rugrats and no car or driver's license. It's bike or public transport!
But we do have it good. There's no way I could have the lifestyle I have in a lot of places around the world.

Yeah. You download an app and beep it at a bike station (there's 200 of them downtow ) and it releases a bike you can ride for a few hours. You can return the bike at any of the stations

We have that too. I meant more like do people use their bikes like Americans would use their oversized cars? Is it common for Norwegians to use a bicycle as their primary means of transportation?
