How/what did you do to achieve it?

Thanks dood!
I used Mr. Elwood's tactic for rusting guitars and stuff. Bought some iron surfacer jank and rusting solution from these guys: http://www.tricoatstore.com/home.php?cat=253
I had previously tried to etch the pedal and it didn't really come out so hot, but instead of sanding it back down I just painted the iron stuff over it and let it dry for a day. Then I threw another light coat on it and a few hours later sprayed it/dabbed/brushed/dripped the rusting solution onto it. The sooner you apply the rust after the iron coat, the more reddish it turns out.
While it was drying that night, I sprayed Windex onto it, which ate into the rust and dissolved it in some spots. Later I let some more rusty jank drip onto it and pool.
You can do whatever you want. Throw and kick the pedal around after the iron coat's dried for cool results on the surface. A cool thing happened with some metal plates I practiced on and left out in the rain; the rusty surface was bubbly.
I sanded the knobs so they wouldn't be shiny in the spots that weren't covered in rust, then sprayed them and let it pool.
The "techniques" are probably similar to those used for relicing guitars, except I'm not trying to fool anybody or make it look gently worn.

As much as I love the look of etched pedals, I think this is even cooler. Awesome idea and execution!

I think I might start offering just the Gloomy Drive circuit side in a stand-alone pedal. It's such a trashy junky sound, I love it
