I'm confused what prompted this response. Was it a reaction to the "die in a fire" comments, the "boycott Hollywood" post, or something else?

It was in response to the thread in general. The fact that I have to keep coming in to these type of threads from copious amounts of posts being reported and because I saw the rumblings of things potentially boiling over again. It may have been an overly confrontational and heated late night post but it'd just be nice to see this topic handled with the decorum and respect it deserves.

So yes, to a point it was the post urging the boycotting of Hollywood, but not for the reasons you might think and in response to Olin, I expect nothing less than passionate responses but we all have to remember, think before you post, remember that emotion and intent are extremely hard to convey in text, a sweeping statement might not give the intended message and that it might affect others. This is a topic that must be handled with care and rational discussion but most definitely needs addressing. A good idea might be to imagine how everything here would read to a stranger who stumbled across it.

I don't know much about sex since the nineties... but it's supposed to be a positive thing, no? And then these fucking predators have to try and ruin it for everyone. Because, much like murder and other extreme anti-human behaviors, the effects of a molester's transgressions spreads in a wide circle. Though I've never directly been affected by it, or even explicitly been told about it by a friend, I feel its toxic influence too, and I hate it. I genuinely want to see rapists get the worst treatment possible, but all too often the criminal justice system go relatively easy on these pricks. I won't go into that too much, but something's gotta change. Even just recently near here, in a small valley community, a paedophile was uncovered. Seemingly regular family guy - not a creepy old loner - involved in coaching sports and the like. Like what the hell, how is it possible for these monsters to hide in plain sight like that? The woodchipper mentioned earlier comes to mind...

I don't mean this as an attack, just seeking clarification; you said "Now/here is not the time/place to meme", as I understand because this subject is serious and it can be misconstrued. Yet (though without posting a picture) you just used Randall (from recess) as a meme. I am confused, partly because I've never seen Recess and can only read on the wiki that this character is a snitch and nobody likes him.

It took me a while to weigh in on this thread, partly because it's relatively personal content to me and my family and partly because it was almost impossible to filter through the unrelated post count dumps in order to gain much understanding on what the topic of discussion was or which direction it was trending.

As I understand: we are shocked by the QTY of accusations that have come out of one industry at one time.
And then the discussion either fell apart or took a normal human course that could lead to understanding, depending on your perspective.

Personally, I think one person's courage has the potential to embolden others and I think it's a good thing. Exposing sex offenders is tough, it's normally unfairly hard on the victims and doesn't always give people the closure they had hoped for.

(Edit) MALE (MUDFUZZ!!!) Violence in our country is a huge issue, and any discussion, even if it devolves in ILF style is probably a good thing.
