Not trying to push them on you (like what you like!) but I thought of this song... pretty fucking epic. Disclaimer: it's not chill. But it sure bumps. (From 2009.)

Yeah, that was pretty cool man though I'm not too big on the style of the vocals. Do you like Texas Faggott by any chance? I just ask because I found CD of their's under the seat of my car today and it bought back memories haha.

I was really excited because I openly and unironically love Taylor Swift's 1989 and Ryan Adams is the fucking man, but eh. It's just music Adams can crank out in his sleep, and it's lost something from most of the original songs.

Don't get me wrong, it sounds ok, I guess it just doesn't live up to the hype that the idea on paper generated in me.

I too openly and unironically love about HALF of 1989. It had way more potential, to be honest, if some of the production was different. I think that's what makes the Adams version so much stronger. I realize that three chords on a guitar and some interesting arrangements and other instruments is second nature to the guy but his songs seem to fill space that much more. I think that Blank Space and Bad Blood lend themselves much better to Taylor, Welcome to New York is basically a toss up, perhaps because I think the song is just doo-doo to begin with. But "Out of the Woods" and "Style," the Ryan Adams version, are great and seem to sit better with me.
I'm not a Ryan Adams fan at all. My wife is so I decided to give the record a spin so that I could contribute to a conversation she and her friend were having and incidentally I ended up enjoying the hell out of it.

Well I just think it's fun, but this is a very legitimate criticism
For people in this thread unversed in the ways of Mr. Adams, his prolific nature as a songwriter is pretty much unmatched
Most fans haven't heard 100% of the music he's written and recorded. It's close to impossible LOL
There are literally hundreds of unreleased songs and b-sides, most of which aren't very good, some of which are amazing
So yeah, given the production, he could have easily cranked this album out in a day or two
This having been said, like I said, I enjoy it a lot, it makes me smile
The funny thing is, in a roundabout way, they're both originally country artists who muck around in other genres
So it's kindof appropriate

As interesting as I think Taylor Swift is on so many levels it's important to note that she is more of a BRAND than she is an artist.
She is so in tune with the active consumerism of her product that for her to become an artist could truly alienate an entire fan base.
Sorry, maybe this discredits her some. I don't mean to knock her talent or sincerity. In fact, maybe everything she does is fully 100% sincere as an artist. But there are limitations that I think she would never considering crossing. Let's say Taylor suddenly wants to write a record about sex, drugs and witchcraft. It just cannot happen because of Taylor Swift the brand.
