Doing a drone collaboration across boarders was a little intricate, but very rewarding.

I'm trying to phrase an email in which I ask you to submit because I'm lazy right now

have been on the 'on the fence' up to now as health an issue, but have to admit that i've been too damn ill for most of this month to get anything worthwhile done. maybe i should be posting this in the irritation-frustration thread as that's where it really belongs. not a happy bunny.

anyway, apologies to whom it may concern re organising, etc, and thought it better to be honest and timely than draw it out as a maybe. maybe next year is all i can say. believe me, you are missing not much atm.

i look forward to hearing the finished result. make it good you all.

I don't want to spoil anyone. But our track is totally bitchin'.

I know there's no rules, but I wasn't sure how far to stray from true drone. I thought about doing something acoustic with a gong, singing bowl, and some other noisemakers, but I knew it would end up being fairly percussive. Then I thought about using field recordings from the old mostly-abandoned psych hospital I work at to do some kind of musique concrete piece, but I knew it would end up more like a sound-collage than a constant drone.

Since it's my first submission here, I settled on playing the safe card, and did something with my Pocket Piano. It's all sine waves frequency modulated against each other, with a light spattering of FX pedals. It's got a nice beating, throbbing feeling to it. Clocks in at 8:49 - 23 sections of 23 seconds each - 5 tracks. Hail Eris. Will submit in the next day or two. Maybe I'll do something more adventurous for Drone Comp 2016.

I think all of those ideas would make for a great track, kaeth! I love the sort of weird thing you were initially planning on doing, and I'm just as psyched for the Pocket Piano track. I've been meaning to steal/borrow one from Eivind August.
