Or you could do like Elwood does and cover it with PowerPuff Girls stickers and then scrape them off with a rock.

Loved that.

I briefly had an actual camera in my possession today. Thus, I finally have a picture of my guitar:

I can't get it to come out quite how it actually looks no matter what I do with the lighting. It's maybe a little darker, and the pickguard looks like something between copper and gold depending on lighting.
I got this a few years ago at my high school's annual yard sale. I went to a preppy rich kid school on a scholarship, so this yard sale had the coolest stuff, usually really cheap. The students got first pick at everything the day before the sale opened to the public. Since this was back in high school I had no job, but I would bring every cent I had from birthdays and Christmas and whatnot to these things in case there was something really cool. I mean, I got a $900 Yamaha surround sound receiver for $20 one year because the people pricing the electronics section had no idea what they were doing (they were all volunteers) and didn't know what they had. So I came prepared. And I found this 50th-anniversary-of-the-strat MIM strat, basically brand new with the tags and tweed gig bag and everything, for $200. It was the most incredibly tacky and awesome looking guitar ever to 17 year old me (DUDE IT'S ALL GOLD) so I bought it with almost the entirety of my savings. I tried to teach myself for a while, gave up and went back to bass exclusively (

), then picked it up again more seriously this past winter. I'm getting there. And I still love how it looks.

I have a hard-on for that strat; that's one thing I never thought I would say.

I dig it. I've been thinking about picking up a second Strat lately.

LOVE IT. The main side effect of playing bass to me was that guitars felt small and playing 24.75" Gibson scale doesn't help that. This one is 28" which to me feels natural, it's where I expect the guitar to be and now it is. The neck's comfortable, but I like a thick neck and don't shred. A buddy of mine didn't like the neck much, but he likes pencil stick Ibanez' necks. The sound is heavy, instant Doom. First time I plugged it in at practice volume and hit a chord me and my drummer looked at each with the stupidest grin on our faces, that good.
