2 tragic cases. However there is little sense in comparing apples to oranges, especially when one of the examples is from 20 years ago; murdered by a couple of small town, lowlife bigot alcoholics in a time when less than half the population had internet access.

In the 2010s alone...even just the past 2 years how many terror attacks against civilians have been the result of Christianists? How many men, women & children have been killed or maimed after someone yells "JESUS DIED FOR YOUR SINS!" and self-detonates in a densely populated public space? Where are the governments of Christian states systematically hanging and throwing homosexuals off tall structures...to cheering crowds...without repercussion?

Extremism is extremism, but there is quite the distinction to be made in matters of methodology, ubiquity and results.

Well, there was that incident a couple of years ago, were a white, christian dude shot and killed more than seventy kids on an island in Norway... Not that I don't get where you're coming from, but it's not like it doesn't happen.

Anyway, extremism obviously grows more in poverty stricken countries with poor infrastructure. The fact that islam is the religion in some of these countries is "arbitrary" - I believe the result would have been the same if they were christian countries, given the same socio-economic structures.

Looking at vast swaths of Eastern Europe, the result has been the same in Christian Countries?

that situation in Norway was just terrible.......

I tend to agree that it's easy to breed extremism of any ilk in poverty stricken countries, also noteworthy that the old testament of the bible is as violent as the Koran (maybe more I can't recall the numbers specifically now)

Also maybe fair to point out that America wouldn't be here at all (in it's current form) if not for Religious extremists (native americans would have every right to call them terrorists in some regards)

There was also this guy:

And the guy that shot up the planned parenthood in December.

Like I said and quoted earlier (it's almost as if I make posts with the expectation that people will read them), the difference has to do with scale -- If you gave one of our homegrown terrorist groups 8 million people and their own soverign state (why not Oregon ?! ) I would wager there would be a lot of overlap in behavior.

Hopefully this never plays out.

It's almost like there's a concerted effort to re-establish Oregon as a white separatist space! Oh wait. There has been. For decades.

There's legislation going on in russia to legalize domestic violence. Because jesus.

But anyway I used to work at a Persian market in San Diego. Most chill people ever. Folks that had bailed out of iran after the revolution because they wanted to drink and dance and raise their family however they saw fit. The imam from up the street would cruise in wearing slip-on vans. We stocked israeli and iranian cookies on the same shelves and the irony wasn't lost on the ex-pats from either country who would come in and joke with each other over tea and snacks. What happens when all the cool people with the money to do so gtfo of a country or even a region? What we're seeing now I guess.

I guess, but i would strongly urge we bear in mind that plenty of people who knew better stayed behind, because they couldn't afford to get out of there. And you know, yadda yadda, economic and political restrictions created by the West are to blame. But like, ethics divergence within a population is a thing, to pretend that Islam is somehow this fucking hivemind is preposterous.

"A comprehensive demographic study of more than 200 countries finds that there are 2.18 billion Christians of all ages around the world"

I feel that it's necessary to point out that the largely Christian countries tend to be at war with the largely Muslim countries for one reason or another (oil, terrorism, sock puppets), so one could probably argue that who the "terrorists" are is just a matter of perspective. :idk:
Granted, Christians don't strap bombs to their kids and throw them into a crowd, but we do tend to hand them rifles and tell them this is an ideological war with Islam rather than a power play by first world countries.
Just to note, I only skimmed the last three pages of the thread.

Maybe the countries of scandinava are "christian" countries, but there's no other countries in the world with as many atheists as scandinavia. The fact that Norway on there is in the "80%" is ridiculous.
Yeah, that was just a wiki image to sort-of back up the population size.
Graphs never seem to be all that accurate.

Plenty of Norwegians are still registered as christians regardless of personal beliefs, though. Social stigma or something (mostly because of the elderly people). Polls seem to point towards us as a country of agnostics. :idk:
