The new prices I meant. Their new combo the Aether is $4.5K.

Wow never ever heard of that one. The new prices are up there indeed. I couldn't afford a new one. Got my sights on a deliverance 120 at the moment. It's absurd how cheap they are these days. A stellar amp too

Yeah, even over here in the UK a D60/120 are awesome value—if you can find one. I'd rather one of those than a vintage JCM800, although I wouldn't turn my nose up to one of those. :thumb:

Wow just looked up the aether... weird. Fucked price to boot. Diezel territory... although the only diezel worth a shit is the herbert, still not worth the price though

A Diezel has a shit-ton of features so people feel a little more at ease spending $4K on that. The Aether is stripped down. The external power amp probably boosted the price by a great deal. Clever idea, though. I like it. Sounds pretty awesome in the clips I've heard, but wouldn't work in a loud band.

Yeah a Diezel is feature heavy, but it seem s like an expensive repair bill after something goes awry

You pretty much HAVE to send it back to Diezel if it goes wrong. There aren't many who'd dare mess with this:

No joke there!

No doubt the herbert sounds amazing too. But I'd say it only sounds about 10% better tha my pittbull to my ears and at 3 4 times the price that's a hard pill to swallow

Diezel and similar feature heavy amps just looks like large collections of switches and buttons for stupid shit. I don't want an amp that tries to be everything for everyone because largely... it's a sure fire way to not do anything well instead of a single amp that does one or 2 things excellently.

also dig the rig/tools of the trade Cancer.

and Jake from statefarm.... gorgeous

I feel the same way regaurding most modern amps, but I must say I ate my words when I played one.

hell I'm going off all the videos I've watched doing tone tests and I've tried like two of the top name ones... Diezel and a Framus..... both brought the frrrty frrrt to my ears. and all the video tone tests brought the holy terrible ass everything be it the amps or every single person using them.

I know what you mean. Seems everyone is playing djent on em or ac/dc leads. irritating just give me some riffs. Even open chords would be more useful haha. I played a Framus cobra and I have to say it's easily one of the worst sounding amps I've ever played. I couldn't believe my ears after all the hype.

Not very long ago my GC had both a HERBERT and I think a HAGEN. Lovely cleans both amps but the drive channels were these really bright, tight modern distortion tones. I had little time with them though so I didn't get to dig in but even then not worth the price tags for me. The only modern amp with 'more' features that I've dug lately was Laney's newer Iommi amps. Kinda steep price tag too but I've seen them used for some OK prices.

Done a lot of downsizing the past couple years. Down to Bare essentials VHT Pittbull 100 CL with KT88's and an Emperor 6x12 loaded with Fane Medusa 150's. And yes it can doom. Recently played with Graves at Sea and they were asking me about my rig and what pedal I was using to get my tone. The answer? NONE. I use the factory bullet booster used in USA made BC Rich guitars to push the front end a bit and it goes from articulate death metal to wooly fuzzed out dooom in a blink of an eye with more clarity and control than you can ever get with a pedal
I like the way you rock-n-roll brother. :animal:

How do you like those Medusas, and are they the 150 or 150C model? How would you describe them?

The reason I ask is I've currently got 2 Fane AXA12's and 2 Celestion G12H(55)'s in my Mesa Traditional 4x12, and I've got 2 EVM12L's and 2 Mesa OEM Vintage 30's in my Lopo Signature 4x12. BUT, I've also got an old Boogie 1/2 back 2x12 that's currently half unloaded (hoping Santa is bringing Daddy a pair of vintage alnico SRO 12's for that one), and a 2x12 combo cab which I want to load a couple of either Medusa 150 or 150C's in, or possibly a pair of Studio 12L's. So my next speaker purchase is gonna be one of the Medusa's most likely, just not sure on the cast or the stamp frame model.

I Personally don't know how the frame affects tone yet, but I will say these are the most articulate and defined sounding speakers I have ever heard. Palm mutes and chugs punch you in the stomach and never sound woofy or poofy. Very much voiced like a high powered vintage 30.
