It was a church basement show and they had fancy mics attached to all the drums/cymbals, to the side of the guitar cab, etc. There was a dude that messed with em a little during the show a bit, too. I really hope they recorded that shit.... Also back at the mixer there was two boards of pedals all running through keymasters, and a little modular set up, which I believe was for some in between song noise. Mmmph.
I love METZ. Where was the show? I have to see them & Lightning Bolt. Maybe the Philharmonic if it weren't so damn expensive.
Twas at the Unitarian Church in Philly. Perfect vibe for that show. First time I saw then was with lighting bolt which was a great pairing.
Zero desire to see GnR. $5k for seats forget about it.
Also, Flying Lotus live was transcendent.
The sound of tree branch snapping. You're so lucky.
I'd like to see Kublai Khan or August Burns Red. I don't think either is coming by but X, Los Lobos, & the Blasters are doing a show together. LA legends.

Let the record show that D.o.S. mocked me for merely wanting to attend DMB and then confirmed he is actually going to Phish.
I love Phish when I'm in the mood for Phish, but I'll admit I don't really know them.
What record do you recommend starting with?
I'm pretty sure my phish listeningship has been a long-tolerated thing on this site. It's like the racist great uncle thing for ILF, but instead of hating minorities its Trey enjoyment.
As far as studio stuff, Portrait of Nectar is a good entry way, insofar as if you don't like that you probably won't like the rest of it.

But, like the Dead, the live stuff is really where it's at.

Buried At Sea in April. So Stoked. I'm pretty sure I'm getting all of my bucket list bands in like three weeks.
Like I'm actually being reduced to tears of joy because of how fucking cool March and April are going to be.

Tame Impala is playing in Montreal 2 days before The Cure. I couldn't resist. Gonna be a hell of a week. Especially since I don't speak a word of French. I'll figure it out on the plane, probably.

You definitely don't need to speak a lick of French to get around Montreal.

As someone who's there at least a half-dozen times a year, I can confirm this. All rumours of French Canadians being snobby or elitist about their language are just that, rumours. Montrealers are the fucking shiznit. In fact, if you attempt to converse in horrible broken French, they will be delighted that you tried. Most Montrealers are fluently bilingual.

That's also the advice I was given -- that a polite greeting is "bonjour hello", which they like just because you tried and then they know to use English. I really want to go for a visit.
