probably some people say that. i have pretty limited real life experience with either, so i don't really know what i'm talking about, but if you look into actual differences, if i remember correctly they're pretty minor. and lots and lots of people also say they're not inferior. i hear a lot of people (not here cause this amp is shunned here) saying that the block letter 5150's are sooo much better than the signature model 5150's, or that 5150's in general are sooo much better than 6505's. it's all bullshit. the first production model block letter 5150 is the exact same circuit, made in the same factory with the same components, probably by some of the same people as a 6505 that came off the line yesterday. just an example of people's weird ideas about gear.

Yeah, sometimes with vintage gear certain attitudes can crop up based on subjective taste and then become easily set in stone since the gear itself isn't always readily available.

While I don't disagree with you, I do recall a conversation I had with the guy who use to work on my amps about newer Peaveys and quality control being way worse than it used to be.
He also said that about Marshalls, having to resolder entire boards from both brands that were in for warranty repairs.
He also claimed that none of the big manufacturers would admit to the board being that faulty and would only reimburse him for an hour of his work time as "that's all the time a minor repair under warranty should take".
Which obviously cost him time that he could be spending on other people's amps for money.
Needless to say, he does not tech anymore.
Which is sad because he was quite good and knew his shit.

But yeah, I don't think there are any toan mojoz in the first batch of 5150s or any shit.

i actually just spent some time reading about the two versions of the t. seems there is some weird shit going on with the second generation, but it is still basically a t and you can do some little mods to get it to first generation specs.

it's not the reissue really. it's the second generation of the original. almost all the same specs as the first generation. single channel, 150-ish watts from 6550's in ultra linear. if you don't want the OG then you don't want the 2nd gen red knob. this was still pre-fender. the "reissue" is the two channel 6l6 amp that came out long after fender bought the sunn name. it's the same as an "evil twin" or "the twin". very different amp from this one, though certainly not without it's merits. it's just not a model t. the 2nd gen red knobs are still a model t.

I didn't click the link. what I'm talking about is literally the fender version of it. I should just do the evil twin though.

The Dual Showman from the same era as the Evil Twin is the same circuit as the Fender Model T, or so I've heard. Or really close to it.
I think that's what I recall Skip saying, at least.

AA, care to chime in/confirm?

Sold my Randall Cyclone and a couple pedals... Peavey POWER inbound! Going to pick up that Peavey Firebass 700 and Black Widow 1x15 tomorrow. I get the amp, my pal gets the cab. Have feelers out for a bass cab, hope to have an Eminence loaded 2x15 or 4x10 cab by the end of the week too. or Both?

Guy in Wi has the 200s for sale again. Must have sold the other two Sunns he had.

Didn't realize you're in South Bend (or near about). When cool things happen down there you should tell me. I'll come hang. We can meet and be weirdos or whatever.

Also. Fucking hell that looks killer.
