Good attitude to have man. Shit like this is like a speed hump, you do what you need to get over it and live with it, but it doesn't take over your life.

I've never had a much physical issues, but i was told i had Chrons a few years ago, and after about 3 years (when I'm in my 40's) i'll be the top percentiles for bowel cancer...so every 6months ill need to get a camera shoved up my insides...but like you say, its not going to win.

Wow dude that's pretty harsh, I wish you the best with that. They thought I had that when I was younger, I've been through a couple of those procedures that you outline. And damn right it ain't gonna win, just remember this how can you write doom music without some strife and torment in your life?

Yes it does, I've had it since I was 15 but this is the first time its gotten this bad. And I feel you on the shenanigans, that perfectly describes this past Sunday / Monday for me.

In other news, my afternoon of gear upgrades is 50/50. I started on swapping pickups on the LP and I wired it up backwards. The neck and bridge volume and tone pots are in the opposite places. It works though if I put the pickup selector in the opposite setting. There is one issue though. The bridge volume doesn't go to 0. when I roll the volume all he way off there is still sound, like somewhere around 5 or 6 and then when I roll it up the sound goes away and then comes back in full when I roll the volume to 10. I dunno what is up with that. I'm gonna take everything apart and start all over later.

I did fix the grill cloth on one of the cabs though.

DUDE!!! That cab came out amazingly!!!!!!!! I was thinking of doing the same thing with my new 2x15 but the blue vox grill cloth is kinda growing on me. That's weird with the pots though, I've definitely wired switches upside down and pots in the wrong place but I've never had one do what your describing with the half volume not full off problem. Did you use a schematic to do all the wiring?

Sweet just got in a local trade for an 80's proco small box rat for my boss flanger and a bridge pick up. Now I can run my two rats together for some Sunn 0))) esque sounds

Naw, I think once you have your basic sounds covered the rest is really superfluous. I can't find myself seeing any reason to buy weird noise makers or even modulation cause the money to make a rarely used sound seems silly to me. Again though different strokes for different folks!

I'm unsettlingly satisfied with what I've got on my pedalboard right now. Is this what growing up is? Am I become some suit rocking the same fuzz for months at a time? I'm scared.

This is just your GAS going into remission...temporarily...give it time, it will come back with a vengeance and then you'll find yourself redoing the whole board!

I know right!!! It must be, its either growing up / maturing, or we've just hit the top tier and have plateaued! Either way I'm scared as well... I think for me it's mainly that after playing so many show's over the past year with so many bands I've come to terms that I have a "better" (subjectively of course) board then 99% of the other people I see playing out, and I get compliments on my rig as well at almost every show. It's like I don't feel the need to push forward and have better then what I all ready have, because what I have is all ready killer and extremely satisfying, and it's not a competition. I think it's also partly to do with me changing my focus from tones I can create, to working on my playing ability and becoming a better musician.

Speaking of shows, we played out on Sunday night and it was one of the best shows we've done as a band. But this one dude... The bassist of the horribly inexperienced Jam band before us, disappeared after their set and took over 10 minutes to get his gear off stage and we had to push him to do so. And because he slacked he apparently left his jacket on stage, so in the middle of one of our songs he sneaks up on stage next to me to grab his jacket then stands up and knocks my bass with his head and tries to tell me "I'm sorry dude", and I'm not sure if my reaction was appropriate but I felt it necessary, but I told him "Don't fucking apologize, get the fuck off the stage!". He got this wide eyed look of, holy shit I just realized what I did and scuttled off the stage. So I figure the ordeal is over, no biggie. But I was wrong, he comes back during a sample interlude 2 songs later and ask's me while I'm in my stage zone if I see a stratocaster gig bag on stage... So I lean over and tell him "Now is not the fucking time, you should have handled that before we went on" and I think it finally sunk in, that either I was a grade A asshole or he was an A+ dumbass. Do you guys think that my responses were appropriate? and have you guys ever had similar things happen while your on stage playing?

I don't think I will end up redoing my whole board, I will probably use my bass board for experimenting with new pedals though....

Well my bass board isn't completely finished, that OCD is one of the final 2 pieces, the other is probably going to be a compressor for that extra long sustain. And your right I haven't tried the new products, I'm excited for the next tour box!!!

I don't necessarily need one with EQ since it would be going into the DI, what I'm looking for is mainly a comp with attack / release controls and in a black enclosure the size of say a BAT Ritual or the new EQD skinny Ghost Echo.

That would need to be a custom jobber then. The one I am going to build is got 5 controls. Volume, Release, Attack, Threshold, and Ratio. Along with the 3 band EQ would probably be in a 1790NS but the 5 control version sans the EQ could be a 1590BB

Think of it this way, what else could you have said? What other response is there in such a situation?

Skip, i don't think your response to that bass player was bad, he's luckily you even responded...like you say he should have handled his shit before leaving the stage or wait till you guys are finished with your set...not come on during a set, thats just plain arrogant! To my mind it's insulting to interrupt a set to ask stupid questions like that, and the fact that they are inexperienced is even worse, because at that point they should have even more respect and be more humble...we've all started down there at some point and i know i never would have even thought of interrupting anyone at a gig.

Kevin, I think you were on point for what you said. Having people on stage who aren't suppose to be there is a hazard for you, them and your gear. Fuckem. He got a life lesson.
