Next step will be looking for more of an art space that we can play as the gallery/private party idea and just bring kegs in.
Another potential idea is to look at some of the bigger practice spaces in town. I rent @ audiocinema under the Hawthorne bridge.

They have a huge main space with stage and PA, don't remember what they charge though. It would have to be BYO as far as booze goes, but I don't think they really care if it's a private party.
I think we are going to need to look more closely at rehearsal spaces. Clubs/venues, even ones with "rent our venue for private events" links on their websites are being unresponsive. You'd think it'd be an easy one to rent a place for a day, but apparently they can't be bothered to respond.

Do you want to look into logistics at audiocinema?

Any further updates on this? I still haven't put in my time off request at work. Trying to decide which exact days I want as I'm going to extend it a little on one side or the other to visit relatives.

Sorry for the radio silence. Me and Truth.Hz have been trying to find venues in Portland and striking out. Didn't want to just be posting the places that weren't working. Let's see if we can resolve it this week coming up so that people can make plans.

Did y'all try bongo fury? The also do equipment rentals for the rehearsal space. I doubt we need a massive space.

Some friends have a skateboard company in Portland. I can see if we can use their warehouse? It's less than ideal because I don't know what the food situation would be, but I know they have big parties pretty regularly?

That'd be awesome. I'm looking into more traditional venues in town. Love to get a simple warehouse/studio space.

I guess the skateboard company relocated to seattle, but I'm thinking about other connections from the days of yore when I was a decent skater

I may have gotten a lead on a great industrial space in inner SE that has hosted events and a place to set up a bar if we can find someone with a liquor license. I'll reach out on Monday and see what it costs to rent a for a day.

Ok, I found a space, but it's $$$, and pretty raw. I am sure I can get them to come down on price, but it's a few grand a day...and we'd need to bring in our own power, our own liquor, etc...it's in a nice centrally located space, close in, but given the challenges of finding a space, I wonder if we should head to the other meet up that's happening in 2 or 3 weeks?

I think you guys are trying to think too big. For a few grand a day (before all those additional costs) we could legitimately do a professional recording. I'll put some serious work in this weekend to see what I can find.

http://www.audiocinema.org/rent_space/p ... main_stage

Rehearsal on main stage - as low as $25/hr. PA included (2 hour minimum)
Main space rental (up to 10 people) - as low as $25/hr (2 hour minimum)
Main space rental (more than 10 people) - as low as $50/hr (2 hour minimum)
Photography/Video shoots (up to 10 people) - as low as $50/hr
Permitted culture productions - as low as $100/hr
Gear rental (amps, guitars, basses, drums, pianos, etc) - as low as $15/hr
Unlimited kitchen rental - $1175/mo
Gear storage locker - as low as $30/mo

Is there a rough idea of head count?

I think we had 16 people show interest, and a few of those said it was unlikely. So realistically 12ish.

That's a reasonable number.. I'm checking in on a spot in Vancouver, Wa. Not too far outside the PDX sphere of influence.

Don't know if I was being counted as possible or anything, but I'm not going to make it.

Cheers and have fun. It will be a blast.
