I'd bet it was a mobility thing. Not your hip per say, but your hip over compensating for something.
Dr. Sharktooth here....

Yeah, that could defintely be. I'm going to keep on trying to gently work on it and hopefully it goes away.

That could be similar to my recent issue. Consistent calf pain because I wasn't using my hips enough and overcompensated. Now I've been focusing a lot more on using all my muscles when running (surprisingly tricky at first, you think it would just... work) and feel great.

Or it could be something else. I'm not a doctor/physio/hypnotherapist

This was a really helpful idea. I had been focusing on increasing my cadence and "running in a circle" (not sure how else to describe that, got it from some form video on youtube). Shifting my attention to trying to use more muscles seems to have helped alleviate some pain. I think that it will help more as time goes on because, like you said, it is harder than you would expect.

In other news, New Shoe Day! I got some New Balance 1080v10s. I wanted to get a more cushioned shoe for long runs and recovery days, then sometime sooner or later pick up a pair of faster shoes for track days and stuff.
My running group is hoping to get together a team for a local cross country series this fall, so I might end up with four pairs of shoes soon... the 1080s for cush days, something for speed work, some racing shoes for XC, and then my trail shoes.

Or... if everything is cancelled for a long time, I might transition to another big goal and do a solo long run of a long trail near me. I'm slowly becoming more excited about this than other goals. Does anyone on ILF do big trail runs? I'd love some advice, especially for hydration vests and fueling strategies. Link for the trail: https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guid ... _Hood_Hike

Not really about running, as i'm still not allowed to run because of problems on the right knee that have beeen coming and going in the last 3 years..BUT i can hike without problems, so last week i decided to plan a series of early morning "fast walks" (5-6.30 am) to see if a continuous workout of this kind can help with that. Just back from the third 10km walk on the river/woods and i must say i'm quite surprised on the pace i kept without feeling any knee pain.

Side note: the absolute quiet with just bird singing at 5am is something truly healing for my mind, might take a recorder with me next time.

Yes I love that time around dawn out in nature. :zen:

Glad your knee is improving, sounds like a good plan?

I love getting out early in the morning. Sounds lovely! Also, glad you're able to get out and about after the extended lockdown.

Lockdown has been good for running. I go almost every day. Up to 4.25 miles each run. Game changer on my mood and health. Cant recommend it enough. Do a mile. Get outside everyday. I also bike ride w my kids every day. It really helps good vibes.

Yeah I have been running, cycling or walking every day for sure. Also my slow & steady running training seems to be paying off and it feels like I'm safely increasing my mileage now which is nice. Aiming to push up to 20 miles a week then hang out there for a while getting accustomed to it again - it's been a while!

+1 on the go outside everyday (now that lockdown's over): is something i try to do everytime i can.
20miles a week is not bad, should i set a target too? just to be even more motivated.

I don't know it depends what you want to get out of it!

I only set targets and make plans when I'm really trying to train for something. I think doing if you don't have a solid goal is a good way to frustrate yourself.

Do some intervals.

Make them horrible.

The best training.

The worst time.
