I got on the Sweetwater list a couple weeks ago using the Fender catalog number.
They had no firm eta and told me the price would be in the $350 range.
Just waiting for notification that the stuff is available. Already ordered strings.
Which I advise anyone getting one does before the bass is available - I suspect they're going to be in very short supply for a while.

^ This is good advice. Bass VI string options were already in short supply long before the introduction of a $350 Squier.
LaBella finally saw the marketing light and created separate ordering pages for custom Bass VI sets in both nickel plated rounds and stainless steel rounds. They also have a standard set of flats available. You can get them here, click on the set you're interested in and design it from there for around $20-25.
http://www.labella.com/category/product ... ustom-set/I've been doing some experimenting and landed on the perfect set for mine (25-36-46-62-82-106) tuned to D standard. Finally got rid of that sloppy low end feel, nice and balanced now with perfect medium tension.

The Pawn Shop and Squiers and the CS models should get some manufacturing back on the strings, at least for a while.
But these things are like tape echoes: stock up on consumables, because the supply ebbs and flows.

Yeah, I'm hoping supply grows with demand. D'Addario has a nice and inexpensive set for E standard tuning but beyond that it's like LaBella and Circle K, not much else to choose from and custom is pretty much required if one intends to downtune.
I sent yet another email to DR this morning alerting them to the imminent release of a $350 Bass VI along with linking LaBella's ordering page. Hopefully they come around soon and start offing something...

Yeah, I'll be easy, don't intend to downtune, don't need flats (I have my Jazz Bass already set up there).
Will probably transition to stainless Labella's once I'm happy with everything else, my body chemistry hates non-stainless strings.

What's the word on Circle K having Bass VI accommodations?

Circle K makes custom sets too but they're a little pricey so I didn't investigate too thoroughly. The LaBellas are less expensive for a custom 6 string set than my old 4 string set of DR nickel plated Low Riders so I went that route. And turnaround time is 7-10 days.
I heard back from DR and they said current demand doesn't warrant an actual Bass VI product line.
