Now, where do you guys usually place a flanger in your chain? Post dirt/fuzz and Pre delay/verb is where my minimal amount of modulation generally resides....

My flanger is first first first! I have the MXR big one. I usually do modulation pre dirt and pre everything. And out of my two modulation pedals, the flanger is more... flangey in front of my other one (vibrato).

'Tis where I usually place it. Mo' pronounced that way.

This dude likes it before fuzzy dirt though:

I did a little messing about and ended up with putting it in the loop. So far that's where I prefer all my modulation and time-based effects to be. I don't know why, it just sounds fuller and richer. Other than that I put it before dirt to be more neutral and after dirt to be more spikey and intense.

All I have to say is that I can't wait to be running the Octasynth into the Starlight DLX. I know it's gonna be transcendent, I just know it.

Thanx for the tips dudes! I'll experiment for sure but nice to hear what others prefer and why. :thumb:

I need to give the loop another try sometime. I've had such bad experiences with shit effects loops in the past but yet to try the gvt15H or OR15's loop options. Thanx for reminding me buddy!

Oh shit yeah.

Yeah, you need one that's properly buffered and runs in series with the amp's circuitry. They're usually the best ones. A passive parallel loop is often just an add-on that doesn't work properly. Matamp seem to be terrible at this.

So? Any news about the DLX Starlight? It's been awhile...

... and I think it's gonna be a while longer.

Brian made it sound like it's not such a simple task to get everything ironed out. I'm willing to wait.

Some great news.
I really want to add a flanger to my setup.

From SubDecay facebook:
Ordered yet another round of DLX flanger prototype boards yesterday.
The last one worked perfectly, but one of the knobs worked backwards and it didn't quite fit in the case we plan to use. I am drawing up some graphics next week and getting very excited for this one.

That is good news. You're getting my hopes up, syl.

Also good that it's gonna take a bit more time. I can't afford one right now.

The standard Starlight has satisfied my flanger fix with ease. I fucking love that thing but I'm sure the DLX will be sick. Will attempt to block it out mentally and be suffice with what I have for once. Attempt is the key work there....
