hm since first looking around this morning, it seems that even more people are trying to unload their freekish blues pedals
bahahahahaha... if the art on the pedal (if you can even call it art) didn't look so bad, i would've considered offering them for how much a used joyo might cost lol

so, if they repaint and resell a JHS Hyperion clone, will the unethicality cancel itself out?

i think if robin hood were a greedy rich guy, it would defeat the purpose, so... it'd just make them hypocrites, i guess?

I think it would just become a singularity -- an unethicularity, if you will -- and kill us all.

Banning people because of warning others of ripoff artists? Locking threads routinely because of the subject? Wow.

Now THAT is - imho - just the wrong move. A wrong place to avoid trouble.
Not to be a dick towards anybody who has bought the Freakish Blues mojos but to me the whole company REEKED of fishy opportunist crap and bad taste from the very first Youtube demos I saw. I've heard before - somewhere - about the suspicions and this seems to justify my first thoughs. Gooped for protecting the circuit design? Yeah, right, in a way. What a scam.
hbombgraphics wrote:That is messed up, did anyone notice that those new Akai professional pedals are Biyangs??
Which came first?

The first time I saw these Biyangs I though those looked surprisingly convincing for such dirt cheap pedals, and I considered even buying some (thought they'd make it in the feedback loop if nothing else) ...don't know how good /bad those are, but I've heard the boingboings are just as unpredictable as a pedal can be

no matter how okay they look. All the
old Akai pedals I've played have been pretty solid builds, though, no problems at all. Don't know about the models showed here. Perhaps it's the simple magpie logic that fools suckers into buying cheap chrome finish pedals and ask question later, especially when they come with an older brand name tag and aptly higher price tag.
But the test of time will prove the value of the good ones. Consider the sought after Ibanez Standard fuzz from the 70's. You can find one in same kind of enclosure with the same sliders and all, and usually with juts the same electronics inside - as I've understood - but under a different brand name. Now they all cost pretty much the same, don't know if the pricing has varied more back in the days they were originally built. But pretty much ALL of those are supposed to sound pretty awesome (supposed as I've only played three units ever - two originals and one with labels repainted beyond recogition, all VERY awesome).

i had the Biyang delay. it was perfectly fine for what it was, which was a generic analog-voiced digital delay that would beep out to 1200ms or so and self-oscillate that i got for $45 or something like that on eBay. i didn't cane it all over California or anything, but i didn't have any problems with it. as far as i know Akai is just rebadging the Biyangs, the same way that Eastwood/Valco (and Hofner as well, i think) are rebadging the Joyo boxes.
I have no idea what I just watched...

Nutella and...nail polish sandwich? Was he making a statement with that? Because all that says to me is "I have crappy taste in sandwiches."

In all fairness Nutella might make that eatibe. I think though he/it was just trying to be all Fellini in a trailerpark sort's way.

The 'goop' he crappily put on the PCBs he rebranded as his own looked just like nutella and nail polish, I assumed that was what he was going for.
