Agreed, it really is awesome.

It does that transparenty thing, but that's not really important. Everything does the transparenty thing, and there is no way I'd gas for a transparent OD. But it's nice that it can do it.
It gets into big bassy loosey goosey fuzz territory, that doesn't really sound like any fuzz I've played. It's a bunch of JFETs yelling at each other and brawling. It's great. But if it only did that sound I probably wouldn't hit it.

But that crackle.
It can sound subtle, like record crackle. It can sound crunchy (the wooly fuzz sound above with max crackle gives it extra bite and definition and that is a sound to behold!). It can sound like electricity running along your guitar signal. It can sound like your cables are dying, or your amp is going to blow. You can use it to create beautiful, melancholic sounds, or to fuck people up.

I LOVE IT!

My current favourite use is gain relatively low, crackle relatively low, into a slow pitch vibrato.

Yes, ILF is like any other forum and some gear gets hyped endlessly and it's easy/fun to get caught up in it all, but the Fuck is just so good, so I don't really care whether I bought it because hype or not, it always makes me want to play guitar and makes me want to create new sounds.

Seems like I made the right desicion, then. I've been running 4-6 fuzzes as my dirt since I got rid of my DLS a couple of years ago. Just never really bonded with any od, alot of them sound sterile, or lacking fullness to my ears. Transparent? I want an actual sound. So when I read that this was made by a guy who seems to have the same problems with overdrive, well, the GAS was on to the break of dawn. And there was only one cure: GA.

There's always the fear of getting caught up in teh hypez; I've been lurking here for quite some time and half of my peds are from "ILF brands". But really, if the alternative is going all TGP with expensive, boring remakes of old school gear, I'd rather be an ILFWHORE.

I went through countless distortion pedals before finding the crackle. The only mark against the F*** is its name - calling it an overdrive is a massive understatement.

How I use it: [guitar]>Warden>F***>SA EQ>rest of chain

The Warden is used for boost/sustain so I can slam the crackle threshold, and the Programmable EQ lets me shape the wall of fuzz it creates. I'm currently hooked on downtuning a whole step and cranking the lower frequency bands for huge sounds.

I'm GASsing for a chorus or other such modulation pedal.

I played a Cosmichorus v3 and the Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl for about an hour at a local shop. maaaaan almost too many options.

I do similar with my Punch Factory into the FUCK.

I love my Fuck. Currently on my gig board. Wish that the songs that I'm playing had more use for the crackle, but I still use it for fun here and there
