And again, if you want lower drug prices, pass a law. How do you think we do it? Prices are regulated by social security and economic even have procedure to force a drug in the public domain if we need to. Turns out private company like to sell at a low price instead of being forced to renounce all profit in a market of 65 millions potential clients with no trouble financing it.
Pass a law...lol.
And those companies continue to exist and do R&D...because of the profit they're making elsewhere, not the pittance allowed.
I look forward to the day we pass laws and stop subsidizing the world on all sorts of things to be honest, from immigration to defense.

You realize that A) public funded research exists, and B) there is still substantial profit to be made, right? It's not like drug companies and medical professional don't make a significant buck and drive Audis here...

As I said, I look forward to the day we stop funding the world with many things and get our own house in order.
That said, the West at large is coming due with huge debts as it's promised much to the Boomers but the pyramid schemes of medical care and retirement....aren't funded pretty much across the board.
Greece and Italy are the tip of that iceberg.

Remember that the US being in control of USD emissions, and the USD being the worldwide currency of reference since Bretton Woods, every time you buy back your own debt to throw it in the furnace, a significant part of it is paid off by the rest of the world and that's without mentioning that the value of said US is inflated at the rest of the world's expense, because they have to trade in that currency (that's why China, Russia, South Africa, Brazil are trying to move away from it by building their own world bank and monetary fund). Out of every $1 bill you use, a conservative estimate is that 40 cents are paid by the rest of the world, and not the US economy. Who's subsidized?
If we accept for a moment that your argument is valid (it's not, no growth without debt, we've known that for quite a while now, it's why Europe was wealthy and developed, debt everywhere, even in the form of paying people to work on a farm hoping to cash in on the summer's crops back in the Middle Ages and with seaports and merchant ships in a form closer to the one we know today), you confuse small business accounting and macroeconomics. You refuse to look at the full picture and ignore significant parameters of the equation you are grounding your reasonings in.
