Submitted! Not 100% I love it as a track though I love all the sounds, I probably should have spent more time figuring out a way to do multiple layers live because I get so indecisive as soon as I can edit a bunch of tracks in a DAW and like the limitations of just doing something once and it's done. But whatever, drones.

seems I did my track today... however when I do drone, it's a very occasional and unschooled, abstract thing for me, it's really all about impressions. meaning it's pretty unplanned, unstructured, not thought-through.

also my drone generator doesn't work. so i did it all with bass and pedals. mainly CT5

might change a few things maybe :idk: i'll see..

You don't need a drone generator to drone, drone.

I didn't like the last setup I made, so I just made another and will hopefully spend most of the day droning out. :joy:

SUBMITTED. I also briefly considered starting a whole new psuedonym/project name, but then I was like, shit, I don't want to start over on the path to super stardom.

I finally recorded something I like! :!!!:

Except I think it's more "ambient" than it is "drone" so I don't know if I'll submit it or if I'll keep trying. Still -- since I am new to to this -3 to -6db thing, would the person who is (or is potentially) doing the mastering be willing to give it a listen/check it to see if I'm in the zone for proper mastering so I can tweak my process as needed?

PM me plee!

I think my track might be done. I think I'll just listen to it a few more times tomorrow to see if there's anything I want to change or add. I'm really liking it though

ok, so, in my not-a-professional opinion, this -3 to -6 db thing that you almost certainly already know how to do in real life -- at least, if you've ever dubbed a cassette tape. If you're using a more basic interface like Audacity, you can find it under effects as a "hard limiter", but in any industry standard interface it'll be listed as the master track volume, and will typically feature a visual level indicator for left and right because you can redline any individual channel you want to (breaking rules once you know them, etc.) But, basically, once you have everything sounding the way you want it, the Master volume (and the -3 to -6db range) is so that when you make a final copy (or a dubbed tape, example forthcoming) the new copy isn't clipping from having a too-hot input.

Here's a visual representation of the thing as it relates to tapes (I grew up with a Realistic dual tape deck, so that's how I think about these things) The range we're talking about is between the second and third green bar, looking left to right.

You can send me a link via PM and I'll check it out for you! If theres any issues I'll let you know.

Also if people have the ability to choose their bit rate please make sure you bounce to CD quality (44k/16bit) that way everything is uniform and theres no quality issues from bouncing it down from a higher quality.
