I've got a purple Wahl Peanut for trimming my muttonchops. I use it freehand. Sometimes that works better than other times.

I admire your commitment to a livelier hue. I feel like I'm constantly wondering "does it come in black/grey?"

I've been clean-shaven once since I was fifteen...it was when I worked at Guitar Center. The manager required tucked-in shirts and clean shaves. He was also one of the biggest assholes I've ever met.
But yeah, clippers are mission-critical. Bought a set of Wahl clips probably fifteen years ago...I've paid for one haircut since, and use them to 'shave' about once a week. A solid $20 investment. Like a lot of dudes, my beard is so damn coarse and curly that every damn hair will burrow into my face like a corkscrew after two weeks. Slow-acting torture.

Also: gotta keep clippers oiled. Hit em with some WD-40 every couple weeks.

Fucking werd.
I feel like I need professional help to reign my beard and mo in. Everytime I DIY I fuck it up.
Maybe I just need a decent pair of clippers that allow for a heap of length.

I rock the shave products from Woody's. Best shaving cream I have ever used. Citrusy and rad. Not sure if it is available at retail outlets. My wife is a cosmetologist and gets it where she buys her other hair junk.
The peanut Jr. Also rules hard for head shaving and sideburn maintenance.
