Ancient Astronaught wrote:Kinda freakin out guys.... I've been having an unusual amount of back pain lately and limbs going numb and staying numb for longer then usual, I didn't think much of it as I've lived with a herniated disk for many years now. Just a little while ago my shoulder start hurting bad and i went to go massage my upper back and found a cyst on my spine about the size of a grape. I never noticed it before and neither did the wife who gave me a back massage just a few days ago. So its appeared and grown to that size in just a few days and this isn't my first cyst, i had a grape sized cyst removed from inside my left wrist when i was 18. And that surgery has limited my usage of my left hand for the rest of my life (its the main reason i had to stop playing drums). Add on to all that that I don't have insurance at the moment, so I'm freakin out a lil. Guess I'll have to make a doctors appointment and say good by to my entire savings.... FUCK.
Harsh news man. Like nick said, you will overcome. I've got a laundry list of things wrong with me at the moment and have been looking into ways of dealing. Diet can help a lot as well as the right kinds of excercise. Believe it or not my physical therapist has me doing a lot of things derived from yoga. Maybe a yoga class would help. Also is a great excuse to hang out with chicks in yoga pants..... Glucosamine supplements and omega 3's in the form of a delicious salmon dinner once a week are beneficial. And if you are eating lots of processed foods IE: McDognuts, cut it out. your body wlll reject that shit in weird ways. I've had people tell me all kinds of weird shit thats supposed to help, yesterday It was cinnamon and honey taken together daily. Who knows. I think the stuff that makes sense is the way to go. Hope it works out for you. I've been checking out Drop electric and It would be a damn shame if you cut back on your musical endeavors. I know for myself, its the only thing keeping me from suckstarting a glock. I used to do a lot of active recreational stuff, snowboarding, mountain climbing, running, hiking etc. That's all off the table for me nowadays and its rough. Seeing rigs like yours and some of the others on here has inspired me to put together some shit on a new level and that's kept me going man. So, thank you, and again, I wish you the best

New guitar came today. SOunds and plays great for what it is. volume and 3 way selector switch. No tone. Volume is a push pull so I can split the bridge which is fucking rad. Got more than I was expecting.

Is your pre-existing herniated disc in your lumbar spine? And remember any particular incident that made your back start hurting in the past few days (hauling anything heavy, twisting awkwardly)? What about family history of back problems or anything similar to this?
Also, was your wrist a ganglion cyst?
I may ask a multitude of questions on this. Feel free to answer/not answer them as you please.
Thanks Peter, I really appreciate it.
The pre-exsisting herniated dis is actually in my thorax my t10 disc from what I'm told. As of right now there's nothing that comes to mind as far as possible injuries in the past couple days, the only thing i really remember is having an unusually large amount of back pain after our 4 hour practice on Sunday. I just chalked it up to having a almost 10lb P-Bass slung on my for that long.
Yes it was a ganglion cyst, I still got a gnarly scar on my wrist from the surgery.
It's not a problem ask away, talking about it helps cope with it. Luckily since ObamaCare has been enacted I can pick up Insurance and they can't deny me for a pre-exsisting condition.

Thanks buddy

I know I will, like I said alot of things have tried to take me down and none of them have won yet. Luckily since the beginning of the year I've started eating alot healthier, if I'm eating by myself I eat vegetarian. Not only is it better for me but it makes my body feel better, but when eating with the family or feeding the kids I'm not going to force my diet on them. But at that point I usually eat something better for me (I try and stick with chicken or fish). As far as yoga that's not a bad idea, my wife works at a gym and she's been trying to get me to join her in some classes. Thanks for checking out the band my friend, it's been such a blast and everyone in the band I consider a friend. We've had our rough patches as any band has but its done nothing but bring us closer. And thanks on the rig! I'm just passing along the inspiration that the people before me gave me, we must continue the tradition of the ultimate doom rigs!!!

You should do three LED's one in each eye, that would be pretty slick, and evil.

I had my friend drill holes for the screws and put them in myself hahaha. The bridge pup was missing two screws on one side as well so I put some in there to ensure the bridge pups safety. Got it tuned to A with very minor hassle. Had to drill the tuning peg out to accept the .068 6th string. Intonation issues on 6th string, Nothing super bad. It sounds slightly off from the 14th fret and on. I am going to fuck with it tonight.

Ahhhhh okay so you all ready did a lil work, well it looks great!!!! Glad to hear there was minimal intonation issues. Slightly off from the 14th fret up is considered "acceptable" from a standard tech's setup perspective. I usually just do the 12th fret intonation trick and let her eat. So you had to drill the tuning peg for a .068 string? thats weird I don't usually run into that problem unless i get above a .072

Yeah I do the 121th fret test. It is off there says my tuner but I don't hear it as much as from the 14th on. And like I said it's not that bad so I am not sweating it. And the tuners are strange. Pretty smooth surprisingly but they are definitely cheap. For what I paid those are very minor fixes any way. Biggest surprise was the push pull volume pot. Super pumped that I have a bunch of tonal options with this guitar.

Yeah man. Never thought I would own a Fender/Squier. Glad I pulled the trigger. Being able to do volume swells finally is fucking awesome.
