HERE: Dwarfcraft t-shirt. I won it in a Memorial Day giveaway on FB, and have been wearing it and self-oscillating ever since.

INCOMING: Black Cat Pedals t-shirt. Since it's black, I can get away with wearing it in theatre pits when I'm working.

I'm looking for a new French Bow. After stringing up my EUB with actual URB strings (thankfully I never threw away those Thomastik Spirocores that had only seen a year of use, all those fifteen years ago), I realized my current bow is in desperate need of a rehair. Problem is, I have a little over a week before a seven week run of shows (which amounts to 42 shows and 6 rehearsals) with the EUB. So I'm looking to buy a second bow to allow me to send the original (which was my mom's when she played string bass) in to be rehaired, and maybe have a new grip put on it as well.

Only one year of use? That's nothing. Also, I really liked the last bow I used a lot. I think it was some sort of carbon fiber bow...don't recall the name. But, I'd go in that direction if I were you. They were a lot lighter and less destructable than the average bow, and I'm kinda clumsy, so that was nice.

I bought one a couple years ago and sold it because some AWESOME pedal came around that I just couldn't pass up. Except I can't even remember what it was anymore and it's long since sold.

Anyway, my friend just bought a MicroKORG and I was thinking about getting the Xiosynth again. I found out they aren't in production anymore but 5 minutes ago I foolishly browsed craigslist and found one in really nice condition for $170...so...this time around I'm going to make use of it, really try to explore synths. And it's also a handy-dandy MIDI controller, which I have no idea how to use!

at least it doesnt have that dodgy software and dodgy build quality that the new novation midi controllers use. and its cheaper than the new novation midi controllers :joy:

I'm dangerously close to pulling the trigger on a Doomidrive, anyonewant to weigh in? Anything else I should consider first? Does stack well with fuzz?

If I flip it you got dibs :thumb:

I feel like my fuzz section is growing a little redundant, I've got a Fuzz War, ECT, and a Manx that all kind of do the same thing but certainly all have different tones. I don't know how financially responsible it would be to add another fuzz/od. I wish I didn't go to college and I could just try fuzzes out all day :mope:

I haven't tried any of those but it might be a good idea to do a thorough weeding out. What do you use them for? How often do you actually turn them on? Are you in a band? If so: Does the pedal fit in with your band's sound? And of course the shoot-out: Is one of them capable of recreating the other? (Would it in a theoretical live situation be easy enough to adjust one to cop the other's sound or do you need the tone at the tap of a foot?) How well do they play together?
Anyhow, what got me excited about the Doomidrive was the fact that it has such an unique character but seemed very versatile at the same time. I've been pondering if there might be a way to get to one of these by asking someone else for a Unidrive clone with a bigger input cap. Might be a way to save money. And saving money is paramount atm.

Yeah not being a band makes me feel bad for owning all these, I am however writing my own stuff. I'll program drums and play guitar then either learn bass or collab with a bass player. The Manx is up for sale on here, no bites. It has such a great tone for leads though, I wouldn't mind keeping it and if I do join a band I know it will cut the best. The Thunder will stay, great thick bassy tone and the feedback loop rocks. The Fuzz War is definitely the most aggressive sounding and sounds just raunchy with my Phantom Ring.

Tomorrow I'll need to sit down and weed something out I think. Or maybe I'll contact Rick at Frequency Central and see if he can hook me up. He's still in the process of building my custom delay and I'm already considering ordering another pedal from him

Or hopefully tomorrow I'll just be totally satisfied and not gas for anything :whateva:

I say do it!

Brad from Creepy Fingers here. Thought I'd chime in with some info. I was able to borrow an original Univox Uni-drive from a cool dude. It uses button package Matsushita 2sc859 transistors. I was able to get a quantity of the same exact transistors. The Doomidrives sound almost identical to the original one. I'll post a comparison on the myspace page soon.
The Doomidrive has a "bottom" control. its an input blend control going from a treble boost tone to a big fat full range boost. The pedal itself both distorts the signal then boosts it going into the amp getting further distortion. Like a Rangemaster and other dirty boosts it sounds best going into a slightly distorted amp. You get a big, dynamic, rich, crunchy, distortion sound that way.
It has true bypass, led, battery eliminator jack, switchcraft jacks.
I use it with the Fuzznugget in my own setup. It stacks well with other pedals.

Try to trade or sell the Fuzz War or the Manx for a Doomidrive, the Pink Elephant, the Harakiri fuzz or the Fuzzfight, you wont regret it and you will yave more diversity on your board.
Keep the ECT!

Yeah I think I might drop the Fuzz War, nice and aggressive but too scooped. I love the lead tones the Manx gets but I'll still try to sell it. If I dont't, oh well :idk:

I was thinking of getting the Doomidrive then probably either the Fuzzfight or Harakiri in the future. Then for recording songs I want to do one channel ECT and other Doomidrive or other CF stuff. Then adding in my Noise Invaders, Phantom Ring and Mini Ark for chaos when appropriate

I got a 10% coupon for the Doomidrive too :)

On to the Drum Software GAS!

Go for it... the non point to point version is 225$. And it stack very well in front of a light overdrive (or your dirty channel).

Personally I would give a try to the Pink Elephant.

Is this a decent price on a CIJ Jazzmaster?
