and here's one I finished two nights ago. Loving it! Thinking about putting one in my bass

Those look dope! That slanted enclosure is badass. I just got some of that same color hammerite paint by the way.
I think I'm gonna keep this one old school with the bias fixed.
How does the Pearl Octaver compare to like your Harm Synth? I like how you ran the wires under the PCB on that with them soldered in on top. I tried that on a Woolly Mammoth clone and it looks so neat that way, but the pinch knob isn't working :/ I think I just mixed up the pinch & eq pots but the eq seems to work normally.

Lets just hope you can still find the parts you need in SIP format, but yea, good idea

I know they are getting harder to find.

Love it! Hows the lowrider sound?
It actually sounds pretty good. Doesn't track super well with bass, but I have no qualms there. Upper octave is pretty fuzzy in relation to the others. Overall I like it, and it will be staying on my board. I'll compare it to my oc2 and get back to ya.

Thanks! That hammerite paint is cool, but I've only used it a few times. I actually had waterslide decals made up for these, but things didn't work out so well.
Compared to the harmony synth...IDK. The harmony synth did so much MOAR. That being said, most people prob wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that, and the lowrider with a squarewave fuzz. That's one thing I will miss about the HSynth; that fuzz.
As for the wmammoth problem, what transistors are you using? Pretty sure Q1 should be low/med gain, or at least lower than Q2, or the pinch doesn't work right.

I'm building a little somethin in a gold slanted enclosure as well, prism though.

You definitely can't get as many in SIP as DIP, but there are still quite a few:

How does that hammer paint like to be applied? Light coats? Lay it on thick? I got some primer that's supposed to adhere to "clean metal" too. I can't wait to try that stuff out.
So the Pearl isn't very fuzzy?
Thanks for the info I hadn't heard about that. I used some 2N3904 and I didn't test them. I guess I got lucky on the last one because I just threw some in and it sounded fuckin sweet. Unfortunately I didnt socket them this time and it's already wired up so fixing it is gonna be a real pain in the ass.

Thanks for the link, I'll have to check them out.

I do a thin coat all the way around, then instantly do a medium/slightly heavy coat. The heavier the better the "hammered" looks. I'm pretty sure you could mimic the look by adding paint thinner to other paints. That's how those can's do it. Used primer base coats as well, and sealed in lacquer.
The pearl isn't fuzzy at all, other than the octave up. It's not supposed to be. It's just a clean analog octaver.
3904 should be fine for q1, something less than 200hfe prob, while I think q2 can be higher gain, like a darlington for instance.

Hey culturejam, what trace width and spacing do you use? Those pcb's look great.

Trace width and minimum clearance are both 16 mils (0.016"). Pad size is 18 mils. Drill size on most of the parts is 35 mils.
