That's why I really like FLCL and Afro Samurai they're under 6 episodes. Most other anime has the idea of serialized story-telling so ingrained(which makes sense due to it's Manga roots), that they often have the same feeling a soap opera where you HAVE to watch the next episode. It becomes such a commitment right off the bat. I want to watch a show because I think it will be entertaining, not because they tricked me into wanting to know what's next. It just sort of cheapens the whole thing IMO. That's not something I only hold against anime either; I think the same is applicable to most television dramas and plenty of other shows.
Also, Mathias, why were those things results? Already liking Vespas, wanting a Ric and having a thing for older women are partly why I thought FLCL was so awesome. Well not so much the Vespa part.

True, true... I can think of a few others like that. The only thing is I think Vespas are really cool but I think I would look silly on one...

the FLCL manga kinda...........................................................................................................................................sucks
But yes I was absolutely in love with the show for a long time. Probably seen it 20 times by now. It's important to me, even.

I thought the manga was just the storyboards put into book form... that's what it looked like to me anyway.

K-On! and Lucky Star just seem to cater to pedos, cuz they're all supposed to be teenagers, but they friggin look like they're 8.

Fail! You miss the point and are stereotyping people you don't know. K-on! manga comes with a chord chart in the back FYI
Lucky Star is heavy satire

K-On is Lucky Star but they throw in hints of music to keep that crowd just barely hanging on 'till the next episode.
That said, I love me some Jun.
And Ritsu.

I wrote "NEVER KNOWS BEST" on some of my cigarettes last night at work because I was bored. And because it's bad ass. FLCL is fucking great. I've just started watching it again after I caught it on Adult Swim the other night.

I've been playing The Pillows riffs lately. When I was younger and had watched the described FLCL marathon, I told my guitar-playing friend that we should just learn all The Pillows songs/riffs, then write English lyrics to them, and no one would know. The guitar riffs in those songs are so catchy!

I remember when I was in like 3rd grade, I would get up every morning at 6am so I could watch Pokemon before school. Then one day the power went out so I missed an episode. Turns out it was the one that Ash got a sex change. I WAS SO CONFUSED!!!

and the characters on south park that are supposed to be canadian look like talking trash cans. cartoons are often stylized and depict humans in a nonrealistic way.

Anyone know where I can find the Bakuman anime? They're being losers and not releasing the english version mangas quickly enough for me.
