I went out to get a pizza today, it looked like every fucking neighborhood was having its own block party. :picard:

In KS we have a 3 phase plan and we weren’t even hit nearly as hard as most places. Ours doesn’t start until May 11th I believe. Second phase is May 18th assuming we don’t have more sickness. Which, who knows.

All I know is I’m lot comfortable still and I’m sick of stupid people on Facebook or in real life acting like this has destroyed their world Meaning, sorry you couldn’t go the club for awhile bro’s. Some people really got hurt by it financially, but that is not going to change soon. The 10/10 rule effectively keeps most service type business closed. So, I’m actually not sure what is going to happen.

I know restaurants, hair salons, movie theaters...etc. cannot survive on 10 people at a time and social distance.

This is going to be an interesting and scary next few months.

Yeah I don't know where people are getting the idea that "lockdown is over" means everything is suddenly totally back to normal. Things will not be the same for a long while or perhaps ever.

I can see why people want to believe in things getting back to normal soon though. It's a bad situation.

Facebook.

But yeah, definitely. It is scary and I wish it were over, but going back to normal is only going to make it more drawn-out.

Ah, the nice weather brings people out...and apparently brings the stupid out in the smart. One of my wife's friends said she got together w some folks to socially distance hang out. My wife showed me a picture of her friend standing less than a foot from her other friend both in masks like "Corona 2020 - party on!" -- you REALLY CAN'T fix stupid, and it seems contagious. Everyone was pretty lax this weekend in New York...I think the lack of knowing about new infections for the past few weeks has made people feel like it isn't out there anymore. Oh well, safety fifth I guess?

When did the world get so backwards? Experts say we shouldn't open up, but we open up...as new infection and death numbers continue to rise! All the anti-abortion / every life matters people are now protesting that we are trading the economy for the lives of the old and sick as if those lives don't matter. Economy is slipping into a depression and the stock market is soaring. President chump is telling people to inject disinfectant and protest the shelter in place orders his administration put in place as they are claiming victory in the news while the data shows that this continues to get worse.

My corn is popping as I sit back and watch the next 3 weeks go down. Tomorrow I'm giving my car back to the dealership...my family will rock one car for the foreseeable future. I mean, we only use it to go to birthday car parades and to empty state parks, no need to pay $300 a month for a car to sit in the garage. My office has made it clear that even best case scenario it will be a LONG time before I need to go in...we are starting to work on covid centric tech for track n trace in enterprise and are starting to evaluate construction in my office to allow for safer existence - it's nice at least to see that my company understands that this has at least another year on it...probably longer.

Stay safe everyone. Don't give into the pressures of your communities.

Also, on the testing note, I know of at least a handful of close friends who without a doubt had covid and tested negative for it or the antibodies. Testing is a crock. It's inconsistent and wrong, not reliable, and not regulated. Wait. By the end of the summer you'll be able to get a test that will tell you something of value, for now, do your best to stay sane and stay home and stay ahead of your community.

This is probably a USA-centric viewpoint, but it's the only one I've got at the moment...

The world (or more specifically the American people as an unwashed mass) has always leaned into stupidity. The last time we saw world class smarts applied to something that brought the world together in a positive way was when we landed on the Moon. Watergate, Iran hostage situation, Reagan declaring government was the problem rather than the solution and then proving it with Iran/Contra, Bush the Elder going to war to protect Kuwait's right to slant-drill Iraqi oil fields, Bill Clinton redefining BJs, humidors, and "sexual relations", Bush the younger invading Iraq to punish them for an attach orchestrated by a Saudi in Afghanistan after the first foreign attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor...Lots of reasons to agree with Reagan's assessment that government is the problem, regardless of your political affiliation.

Why have a CDC at all? If we removed the federal government's hand from the scale, wouldn't that empower free enterprise to keep us all safe from pandemics? Is global warming an existential crisis, or a market opportunity for folks smart enough to buy land a mile from the shore, or to invest in companies that make air conditioners? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the lung butter of workers and patriots!

If you're working for the collective good, you're working for Hitler/Stalin/Ho Chi Minh/Pol Pot/Osama Bin Laden/Saddam Hussein/Kim Jung Il/<insert boogeyman here>. Our forefathers died for our right to wear confederate flags and swastikas while toting "long guns" and spreading germs. Do you want their deaths to be in vain?

On the plus side, maybe this can revitalize some reality shows. "I'll give you nine rolls of TP for that pee tape" would make me want to watch Pawn Stars.

Positive tests make Cheetolini look bad. Unless effective testing makes glorious leader look good, it isn't a priority. Ineffective testing is just "fake news."

Facebook is a fucking cancer right now. If I could give anyone a solid piece of advice, it's stay off of there. At least my news feed is super toxic. Which reminded me of why I left that stupid place a few years back. I think it's time again. I've logged out and signed off of both Instagram and Facebook. I can't do it anymore.

How are you guys holding up mentally? I keep having crying bouts and often times I don't even know why.

I will say this. I'm not going to be congregating anywhere for a long ass time, but I'm also going stir crazy. Like legit crazy I think.

Also, good God Trump. Sigh. Can I ever not be disappointed in our "leadership" here? Can that be a thing? They need to just stop letting him do any of the updates. Ridiculous how dumb he is.

I did speak with one of my tenants the other day who is a doctor (him and his spouse are) and he told me they could do an anti-body test with a single drop of blood once they are done completing them. He seems pretty positive about things even though they are gloomy right now. It was nice to hear from someone directly in the medical field and get their take on things. He definitely thinks the social distancing is a must as well and that we continue staying the path until we have a solid way of overcoming this virus. It gave me some hope after talking to him, but I'm still scared. We all are. Except my brother who is one of those fucking morons that thinks this is all a conspiracy.

Highly recommend deleting your Facebook account. I killed mine after some abusive family members found and "friended" me in like 2014 and there hasn't been a single moment since then--literally not even one moment--when I regretted doing it. Download your pictures/account information to your local hard drive, DM people you want to stay in touch with with your email address and/or phone number, and then shoot it with a fucking bazooka. Fuck Facebook.

That sounds rough. Sadly facebook is pretty useful for me. I find a loads of great gigs through there that would be a struggle to know about otherwise.

But I have a tightly curated group of people on there who I'm actually friends with and I try not to read anything else.

I've had mixed results from ditching Facebook. My mental health and quality of life have definitely improved, but I do miss out on shows and miss get-togethers with classmates/colleagues. I think the trade-off is worth it and haven't seriously considered reactivating mine in the past three or four years, but I do miss going to house shows. IDK how else to even find out about them.

Why does watching Tennessee's re-open feel like watching someone giving up on their New Years Resolution not to snort speed off a McDonald's bathroom baby changing table after 5 days? Lee goes up and is pretty casual about the jump in Corona Virus cases since reopen, but gets turbo pissed about his school voucher program being called "Unconstitutional and Unenforceable" by a state judge, took him less than a day to say, "Fuck em, do it anyway, it'll work out."
