Has anyone directly compared the midrange character of the EHX Russian Muff RI with that of the Way Huge Russian Pickle? If so, I'd be interested in reading your impressions.

I got mine on the way. Stoked to hear how it sounds compared to my old NYC.

Got my muff in! Some initial thoughts. (Keep in mind I have ZERO experience with an og green russian.)
Lower gain than what Im used to with a big muff, but I dont really see that as a bad thing. It still sounds massive, but theres a lot more control. Lots of low end, which is awesome. But at the same time, theres this high end thats ever present that makes this really cool "rumbling lows with sizziling highs" thing is which is tight as fuuuuuck.
Running it with my rig, I have it being pushed by my super overdrive makes it a dramatic snarling beast. Sounds super tight for riffs.
As opposed to my NYC muff, I keep the gain on this one juuuuust before 3 o clock. I found it with the gain dimed stacked the way I normally run things makes it lose note clarity. But slightly lower its a little clearer, and gives me room to shut off the super overdrive to have more control of the feedback.
So far, im really loving it. For $80 bucks I think it sounds fantastic. It definitely sounds way better than my NYC muff does on its own. I feel like that makes it way more useful for more applications (stacked, on its own, as a boost, ect) It also feels way more solidly built than some of the other "cheap" small box stuff does. It feels like it could take a beating, but time will tell I guess.
I'll update this thread in a few weeks after I've really gotten comfortable with it and exited the honeymoon phase.
TL;DR: Sounds awesome a fuck for cheap. Super versatile. Get it if your curious.

Cool. The quality issue was what was holding me back a bit. I'll pick one up this week. Just saw that Greg Anderson from Sunn 0))) was using one too.

But can you not hear the lesser quality of the effect?

Has anyone here tried the green reissue next to the green bass muff? I just picked up a bass muff for my gf to mess with on bass but it sounded pretty nice with guitar, too.

Big corporations are evil, but for some reason we love Reverb.com

Just realized that what, basically, started the anti-Prymaxe sentiment was a thread by jwar.
The very same jwar that dislikes Reverb.com.
