Did a big MTB ride yesterday. 23 miles, 3,000 feet of climbing. I ate shit numerous times - have a massive bruise and raspberry on my ass and got stabbed in the ribs by a bush. Fucking sore as hell.

That's a great distance. I'd love to go biking with friends some time.

Mountain biking has become my new passion. I started in March of this year and have logged nearly 500 miles and 60,000 feet of climbing (and dropped nearly $2,500). It's great to go out with a group of friends for an hour or two, but I frequently go out by myself - the serenity and headspace is great (I wear headphones in one ear most of the time). The climbs can be totally grueling and the downhills are on the verge of disaster a lot of the time.

This last ride was with a group of 10, several of which are racers. These fifty year old dudes kicked my ass all over the mountain! One dude crashed hard, destroyed his helmet and smashing his face up pretty good. He walked off the mountain and I'm sure he had a concussion. Wrapped it all up with a large pizza and 4 pitchers of beer, it was a good day. :thumb:

The guy in Dublin I bought my Guild Polara from was in a mountain biking accident literally the day before I turned up. He was all bandaged up and swollen. I think he said his bike and helmet were damaged, and he was on his way to the doctors to get himself checked out when I arrived. Dangerous, but exciting. I think I'd be more into dirt track biking than mountain biking, just because I'm a pussy.

My old roommates were competitive mountain bikers--specifically they were into downhill racing.

Those dudes have serious balls.

That's kind of the point of staying in shape, though--way easier to drop hammers if you're not lying around all day during the off season.

I don't understand how those guys can bike like that...

...They have to carry their balls around in a fucking wheelbarrow.

id get chewed up at 50 pull ups in terms of time. So far as of now I do not think anyone has made it under the 25 min time cap.

That workout looks like a bitch. Lot's of ab work. I think the 60 tow to bar might kill me. What's a hang snatch?

snatch is a lift, hang is the starting position.

Oh, that makes sense. 70 reps though!? That sounds brutal. What's the weight?
