Real question: why do tweeters even exist? I've heard a few of you dudes playing fuzzless and I can't hear anything missing from that tone (apart from fuzz, but whstever).

You're asking the wrong crowd, Gor, but mostly it's for enhanced high end (the kind that gets under represented by normal speaker cabs)

But seriously, my GK has the fancy dual amp deal (500w to the woofer, 50w to the tweeter) and I got a GK cab that can handle the bi-amping this past summer. Paired with my stingray, the tone sounds a bit more 'alive' and hi-fi with the woofer level on full and just the tiniest bit of the tweeter signal blended in. Like really really expensive sounding good. Even my passive p-bass tuned to A sounds pretty damn good with a little bit of tweeter signal thrown in.

Only clean though. A little bit of dirt and it all goes out.

yeah. that's my problem. it sounds just..... weird? odd. when it's clean. then completely useless poo when dirted out.

I could imagine tweeters sounding good for upright bass. but I hate them.

I don't think I've ever owned a cab with tweeters? Maybe I have and didn't know it? Seems like a weird concept for a bass guitar though.

We've had one bassist who played with tweeters and it was insanely hard to get his amp to sit right in the mix.

I did have one with a tweeter! WTF. A Markbass Traveler 102P. I just looked it up. No wonder I sold that fucking cab! There was something I couldn't place that drove me nuts about it. Hahaha. Man I'm dumb.
