@Excane. It is one that simulates tubes but is solid state.

I am starting a club on here where we help each other order our pedals correctly.

I have some ideas about other clubs; I back a hot chick singer, Victor Wooten...God?, pedalboard breeders, envelope filter for da funk.

Do you guys have cool club ideas?

Put the vintage DOD first for warmth, then the modern reissue DOD for flexibility, then finally put your one-spot last in your chain so it can send the power all the way to the front. You don't want any bad power powering your power while you power.

How about a clean blend club? Where you can talk about how every effect works better with a clean blend.

Clean Blenders Jumbo Blender Bistro.

We need a club for owners of effects that have a tube in them for no reason.

Quick, someone make me a flanger with a 12AX7 in it. Don't actually run the signal through the tube, just light it up with an LED. That would be awesome.

Yes everyone, these are all solid ideas! ILF is going to go to a WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL with these ideas!

I have an important question though, Flats vs Round Wound? Also, Fingers vs Picks?

We should try to make as many threads about vs as possible.

Fingers vs picks isn't even a question. I've already been informed numerous times that, since I play with a pick, I'm not even really a bassist at all, just a frustrated guitarist who can't hack it.

Yeah that one is totally true though.

Not a club, but a competition to see who owns the most Neodyne (or however you spell it).
good deals are here.

Limiter last, that way you can slam insane amounts of whatever at it and not get spikes.. Personally I run two comps last in chain one set for limiting to deal with evolve filters AND turning on all my dirt and the other with a more squish, turn them both on and you get that Tony Levin rubbery sound :thumb:

^^^ oh god I don't know why Tony Levin is revered.

I have an account on talkbass now, but every time I go on their site, I get frustrated by the lack of good info or critiques. Fuck, the basses section is cringe worthy in itself. I haven't dared gone into the strings or technique forums. The effects forum is okay, but it's a lot of compressors and envelope filters and Muse fanboyism.

The pick vs. fingers thing pisses me off. Maybe I want that apparent loss of low frequencies and sharp attack. Have you palm muted and played with your thumb for 3 minutes? It sucks.
I don't understand the flatwound/roundwound animosity. One idol played flats, another idol played rounds on a fretless.

If we're being serious, I've slowly learned to stop giving a shit when people diss pick players, it's just not worth it. I've tried explaining to those douches that 99% of the music I play is supposed to sound aggressive and attacking, so it just sounds better with a pick (that's also why I can't stand playing flats, they're just not aggressive enough for me). It doesn't matter. Their personal hero played fingerstyle, so that is the only acceptable method.

He's playing a Chapman stick with a bow? He knows no bounds. A GENIUS A TELL YOU. I'm a little sarcastic, but maybe impressed, Chapman sticks have the flattest necks ever, I don't know how a bow would work well with one.

Preferring a pick over finger (and vice versa) seems like you intentionally limit yourself when you do. Both have advantages, and limits. I like flatwounds to get maximum thump, but I know I miss getting the grind and attack with rounds. Pick or fingers is really about feel to me. Sometimes it feels right to groove on a jazz ballad with a pick, playing softly, digging in when the song needs it, not playing when it's needed. Other times I have to ride that root with fingers, for 5 minutes, quarter notes. I'm serving the fucking song.

Mike Watt is my hero. LOOK AT THAT TECHNIQUE, FUCKING FLAWLESS.

I hate flats. And usually play evenly with and without a pick at shows....depending on what it needs. Fuck those assclowns. Also. A little late. But I'd like to start a baby seals club.
