I have a couple more, but these get the most playing time by far. Strat gets at least 80% of the action. Ha, never thought I'd be a Strat dude.

oh! '62 AVRI Hot Rod Strat with Ron Ellis pickups (and the neck has been slimmed and re-fretted, too) and a K-Line Tele with Lollar Special bridge pickup, Lollar Vintage neck pickup.

Teisco -- well, I'm pretty sure it's a Teisco...or one of those brands..."Tele-Star". Paired with the amp for $50 at a yard sale. I like the weird Ric bass-shaped pickguard and the checking of the finish looks cool though it didn't show up in the pictures I took. You can tell this shit was high-tech because the neck plate denotes that it's a "steel-reinforced neck". Man, cutting edge.

It was a wreck inside and out so I cleaned it up (mineral spirits works wonders on mountains of rust) and redid the wiring -- it's just three volumes and a tone right now but I would love to put a Melx Fuzz or somethin' in there just to add to the gimmick. The extra switches which no longer worked are still there 'cause they look cool. Strung with flatwound 11s as something new to try out.

The action is pretty bad, and by "pretty bad" I mean it's like playing slide guitar--though the bridge is as low as it gets--and I'm afraid of trying to move the truss rod so it's staying this way. The neck is shimmed but still there's a big gap between it and the pocket. It actually works just fine until you reach the 12th fret or so where it sounds hilarious. Just pretend you're Sonic Youth. To add to the SY factor the pickups are super microphonic and feedback at a moment's notice, which I actually really like! It sounds cool through fuzz! The pickups themselves don't really have any outstanding characteristics and they're pretty low output. They don't sound like shit though :idk:
Oh, it has a zero fret which I thought was interesting. And the fret wire is super ultra tiny and rectangular so if you aren't right up next to the fret it's gonna sound like butt.

The lady who sold it said that her husband had it since he was 16...there are deep finger-made grooves throughout the fretboard so apparently this dude liked his Teisco. I'll take care of it, dead guy, whoever you are!

Trade yah some pedals for that guitar!

Reading that got my blood pumping but I just can't right now, sorry! If/when the time comes to pass it along I'll hit you up first though.

That's awesome! I was thinking this one might have had a bridge cover as well.

I have a DC-10 in that color. Me and my brother call the color "vagina". I think dano calls it copper or something? I need to fix the wiring in that thing. Also I need to get a new bridge, cause mine started to bend.

At any rate, buzzy twangy jangly fun guitars! Never see enough danos here, on account of them hating gays.

what vaginas you've been seeing, guys?

looks great :) only thing that bugs me about those Danos is the body binding... basically i've been seening this baritone Dano and the binding is slowly coming off kinda like a tape

I'd rock an old Dano Bari,...but not one of the newer imports.

This is just a repost:

98 Warwick Thumb Bolt-On 5 string.

Image

And these two I kick myself constantly for letting go of: :(

~1982 JV Squier Jazz Bass (I actually made $50 flipping it,...but I still kick myself for letting it go):

Image

MIM Standard Tele, that I traded for a Synth (Ensoniq ESQ-1) that I then sold to a buddy for hella cheap

Image

The Jazz had some mojo,...but I prefer maple fingerboards.

I loved the neck on that Tele and it really jived with my heavy playing style. Luckily they seem to be a dime a dozen. I'd consider one of the Squier Tele Customs and replace the Humbuckers with some Gibby P-94s (hot overwound single coils).

I've never been huge on black tele's for some reason. and my american special, which is only a few hundred more, blows every mexi away. the neck is awesome, and they decided to throw texas special's in it. it screams.
