Krosis - I'd help you out, but I have basically no spare funds to buffer myself with right now. Try contacting the dude though, if he really needs to sell he might be able to ship.

Oh you had one? How was it with stock speakers? Was it as loud as the sensitivity of the stock speakers would lead me to believe? It looks like the construction is solid as hell as its a straight birch ply cab.
it was built really well. the casters are garbage, but on EVERY guitar cab that's not a mesa they are. IIRC they had 1piece metal handles as well. that's a huge plus for me cause I HATE plastic handles cause they rattle , they break and theyre cheesedick as fuck.

it was a fairly bright cab, damn near hifi sounding. I couldn't stand it with the stock speakers. as soon as I loaded it with different speakers it SLAYED.

So I got the cab. :yay:

It is built really well and I can see what your saying about the casters but they pop out which is nice and they're fairly large wheels which is a plus. And yes they are big one piece metal handles which is really nice and its surprisingly light.

It is bright and hi-fi sounding with the stock speakers with a very different mid emphasis compared to my Emperor's. Honestly i'm really really impressed with this cab stock. It's got shit ton's of crunch without being shrill and its got tons of low end all while sounding fairly balanced overall. I think the only thing I may do is swap out the 15 for an actual Emi 1518 and rewire it correctly for 16ohms but I'm not in a rush as it sounds crucial as it is for now and the swapping would mainly be for peace of mind at gigging volumes.

Oh and btw even stock this cab is FAWKING LOUD.

I'm tempted to sell some shit so I can score this ampeg ss guitar head. I've read some stuff on them and they are supposed to be good, gainy metal heads. Only thing is that I sold my randall century 170 because there wasn't enough low end. I don't want to run into the same problem. Anyone with some first hand experience?

Also it's probably an hour and a half away...

Every time they come up in discussion on here it's good things, but I'm not sure the lowend has ever been addressed.

I picked up an ss140c a while ago. They like to be played loud. The clean channel has tons of low end. Not as much on the dirty side, though I wouldn't call it thin by any means. SLK can chime in about the vh140c, because they are different amps.

I was borrowing an ss150 years ago for a bit that I really liked. Great sounding for a solid state head with a killer gain channel. I don't really know the vh140's, but people seem to really like them when the subject comes up. Either way, that price is incredible these days. That's about what just the head goes for.

A lot of those old crate cabs have vintage 30's in them too. The cab is shit, but the speakers alone would make up a big part of the price of that rig.

if I was in TN I would be there buying it regardless that I have one already. If I was in want of one I would drive up there to buy it and not even haggle with the guy.

Don't get how people say anything about a SS not having much bottom end, I assume because they didn't know how to set it or used some shit cab with it. plenty of bottom end. I feel the VH's have a bit more harsher sound to them but practically the same beast. the SS's has a bit more warmness to them. I prefer SS's to the VH's but love both. Still my favorite amps.

yea the cab is no give a shit. strip the speakers if they are vintage 30's otherwise turn around and immediately flip it for a quick bill.

Oh and the head doesn't usually go for 350 on VH's anymore. it's usually around 500. when it's cheaper it's usually cause something is fucked up with it or it looks like everyone puked on it and then thrown down the road.

Thanks. I'm gonna ask what speakers the cab has,but if they're shit I'm gonna offer 300 for just the head. Thanks!
