kbithecrowing wrote:So thanks to monkeydancer and that "$2300 for a guitar" thread I've been looking at Creston guitars all day and have developed gas for a "dream guitar."

~ Jazzmaster shaped body made from some piece of old wood with a lot of character. Satin finish.
~ Maple fretboard (tan, not yellow) with slightly larger than vintage frets. 25.5 - 27" scale length.
~ Dunno about the bridge, hard tail or trem.
~ Since he suggests Jason Lollar pickups, two single coil Jaguar pickups (black or vintage white cover) in the neck with a switch to go between only using one pickup or both in parallel.
~ A flat black pickguard, cut to be more fluid since it wouldn't have to wrap around a bridge pickup.
~ One volume knob, one tone knob.
~ Old/dirty looking hardware.
~ & finally, enough routing room under the pickguard so Aen could put oscillators in it just like endsjustifymeans' guitar.

Yeahhhh Creston! I have like 5 different custom ideas and I want them all from him.

For stuff I can actually afford ever...

that din 5 on the soviet is probably to power the fuzz without a battery. you would need to build your own breakout box. actually, you might want to build your own shielded guitar cable with a din5 at one end. run the fuzz on battery so your not sending DC right next to your AC.

^Makes sense to me, but It says in the ad that it needs a battery.

And whaaaat it sold already! :( I was thinking about buying it if I could save up the money in 30 days. Which I probably couldn't have anyway, so meh.

i was out yesterday and went to the buy/sell/trade shop in Santa Clara to look for used stompboxes, and found the PERFECT bass: a MIM Fender fretless Jazz Bass with lines on the fretboard. it's almost exactly like the USA Jazz Bass that i learned to play bass on in the Jazz Improv class at City College of San Francisco in the mid-80s--this one is ivory, the other was sunburst--and they only want $350 for it. so i put it on 24-hour hold, and am headed out in 45 minutes when i'll trade them my Fender Mike Dirnt P-Bass (which is adequate, but which i never really liked but bought because it was a used P-Bass for $200) and some unloved stomps to get the price down where an unemployed person can afford it. so i finally get to have a bass that i actually like and can play comfortably (the neck on the Dirnt bass is way too wide for my tiny hands). WE WE SO EXCITED :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

and it does both the big low acoustic-y BOOM and the aggressive prog-rock SNARL. i spent a good 45 minutes with it.
