thats just one mean vcf is all :) part of what makes it sound so organic  maybe you were just noticing some self oscillations?
I did notice the self-oscillation as well, but even in the higher range of the filter with the pulse up a bit, it just seemed much louder than the oscillators. But I still have to play with it more. If it keeps being an issue I'll try running it through some sort of compressor and see if I can tweak it a bit.

I can see myself having some fun with it though :joy:
well, the filter is boosting the freq you dial in, so you should notice an increase in volume of sorts. but i don't recall ever thinking anything was odd with my unit. you shouldn't need a compressor, but they can be fun. if its still noticeable after you're familiar with playing the unit....maybe contact eric?
Yeah, again it was a really quick run through and my ears are fucked up from 6 hours of music today, but just something I noticed.
Will keep tweakin' and twiddling dem knobs.

check out this video, it shows how sometimes the oscillators are quieter than the filter setting and vice-versa

Features:
• fully analog circuitry
• 2 oscillators with individual controls
• finger-touch sensitivity
• photocell optical theremin mode

I really want another fuzz/OD with good filter/tonal options.

The Minifooger Drive set me off, but the Maxon Ether would also be a possible contestant. Basically I want a nasty fuzz that cuts through our thick, soupy band sound. I usually end up enjoying to play lighter, overdrivey settings more than the full-blown fuzz in that band though.

If only Thomann had both in stock so I could order both, and get refund for the one I like less.

INcoming: B.K. Butler Audio Mini Matrix. Was originally called the Audio Matrix Mini Boogee, but Randall Smith/Mesa let him know that wasn't cool so he changed the name to Mini Matrix. This is the first version of what would become the legendary Tube Driver pedal. Uses two 12ax7. An overdrive with some fuzzy tendencies. Pretty excited about this one.

Do the tubes in pedals like these and the EHX tube ones actually do anything like... tonally(?)

Serious question not making fun of them or anything.

i know exactly what you're getting at. look at the powersupply in the mini matrix, that's a pretty beefy power supply and that leads me to believe this is not a voltage starved design.

when the pedal uses a wall wart then the tube is an accessory.

It's from Chamber of Sounds. The Jupiter 3.0 analog drone synth. I already own their Jupiter III analog percussion synth. Awesome stuff.
