Should I trade my EB-3 for this? Seriously considering it.

Tough choice, as both the EB and that look awesome.
I really like mudbuckers and strongly dislike most bass bridge pickups...dunno about that one though.
But dat hollowbody.
Dunno, man.

The demo he sent me was surprisingly fat sounding! The thing about the EB I have right now is that the pickups are so high output that I have to turn the bass almost halfway down to make my amp have some semblance of a clean tone.

Clean tones are overrated. ;)

Seriously though, they both look really cool. I would think the Gretsch might be a little too fragile, for lack of a better word, to play out with. EB basses seem like they take abuse well. Not sure if a hollowbody of that age would take it as well.
But I have no experience with them so that's all speculation.

Yeah, that's true. Can't go full blast or everything turns into square waves.
It looks like it'd sound fatter than a normal setup. Maybe it is worth it. Got that vintage swag for showin' off, too.

I'm usually very gentle with my instruments. Unless someone pisses me off. Then the bass turns into a warhammer. :omg:

Also, my guitarist plays an orange gretsch too. It'd be so awesome/totally ghey if we were matching.
