I'm sure that whatever guitar that sounds best with your MKI will also sound good with the FZ-1
I have two guitars, an SG and a Telecaster. The FZ-1 doesn't get very dirty with my Tele but with the SG it sounds perfect. I'm guessing this is because the original was put out by Gibson and probably tested with their humbuckers.
Jim says he tests all of his builds with a Telecaster. It sounds good with single coils just not the sound I was personally seeking from it
Thanks! Sounds promising.
Nowadays i play more my jazzies than the tele. They have a bit more output. So that may fit your thought about the higher output / more gain.
The jerms MKI sounds fantastic with Tele and Jazzy though.

I'm excited for you to get your hands on it! It's an inspiring pedal
Do you use a bypass looper? Unless yours is modded this thing isn't true bypass. It's got the type of bypass wiring that's almost true bypass, but the input of the circuit is left connected to the bypass signal (same as the original). So you can hear a little fuzz in the bypass signal.
Jim will mod that for you if it bugs you, personally I don't really care. It's a badass pedal and I'm not going to change it

I'm discussing a badass custom pedal with our pal skully, and let me tell you I am excited about it.
I am excited about it.
Now I've told you.
Uncle Grandfather that thing looks lethally awesome. Props on your stupendously legit pedal collection.

Univalve, Officer B and I are in complete agreement about the jerms FZ-1 - absolutely awesome pedal, you're gonna love it. I use mine with my Jazzmaster all the time and it sounds great. In fact it sounds great with everything. Probably sounds nastiest and gets more bite and sustain (remember, the FZ-1 isn't about sustain) with my SG Jr. The P90 in that thing is the hottest pickup I have, so it's always just LOUDER. Also helps if your amp is already breaking up. Goosing it with a Rat is fun, too.

In: Delaylab arrived. Pretty sweet, pretty deep function-wise, and absolutely fricking huge. This is the most acreage of any of my pedals, even bigger than my Damage Control overdrive. All the more reason to make an effort to learn the pedal before I get another delay involved.
