Can we talk about modular synths?

Nice! I kinda want New Pam's, for the LFOs and the smaller footprint than my Temps Utile. But I've gotten so used to TU I don't know if I can do it.

jia. was looking ag the Temps Utile. but with the New Pam's and the O&C (thanks for the recommendation meng. Deltz was pushing it hard like butts too.), i think i've got loaaaaaads of clock and mod options in a relatively small hp investment?

Temps Utile is very solid and has a few tricks that would be sorely missed. But it hasn't got nearly the love that O+C has. O+C is among the favorite modules I own.

also I'm heavily considering getting rid of peaks to make room for maths. a little confused about it

For what it's worth, I have both Peaks and Maths and they're both super useful modules.

Maths is great as an envelope/LFO, with super easy control over the shape/etc., and the mix/or outputs are also great. And it has tons of more advanced uses that always end up being handy in any patch.

Peaks can be a bit overwhelming but a good way to get past this is to force yourself to use it for only one function for some time, then move to another one. That way you can get used to its behaviour and what it can do. I mean, it would be a good module if it was only a dual LFO or a dual drum sound generator...

Also, I plugged my qNexus in the modular again (it had been staying under the case unused for some months) and rediscovered the joy of playing silly crappy melodies with my modular

I recorded a small sequence with the Brainseed and then switched to usinf the qNexus to trigger/transpose that sequence and bam, my patch becomes a Boards of Canada-esque little thing. Except, with bad timing and no progression whatsoever .

lol. i just got lucky. removed the s and at the end there's a ?, removed that and anything following it. the ? means it's looking for a new command string i think? like a time or referral link or some such?

yessssssss. watched so many vidjas on the Maths. Mylar's one was super helpful. my K-Mix just got in, i have some errands i have to run until about midday, but then i get to sit down and actually PLAY with all the bits that have been coming in.

oh. oh YES. YESSSSSSSSSSSS. the Basimilus Iterus Alter is SO GOOD. like, 5 minutes in and i'm amazed at what comes out of it. with like........ zero understanding of what i'm doing yet.

DrumFuck goes from A'Ight That's Useful to OOF YAY GLITCH TOO after running Maths into it.

and haven't even used any effects after either yet.

......... only thing is i'm still getting a hum. i thought it was the other audio interface (and i am FINE with ditching that for the K-Mix. it's going to have a touch of a learning curve but it's already 2 billion percent better than the M-Audio.), but it's still there. i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong? is there some type of converter one needs between audio out of modular into an audio interface? right now i'm just running the outs of different modules into the K-Mix. gonna hit up their tech support too BECAUSE REASONS.

huh. i am LISTENING. i narrowed it down to JUST the DrumFuck. that..... might be what i need?

going to try plugging it into the bottom row of power first, see if that helps?
