How're you liking that windsor?
Windsor isnt mine. The vtm120 is though and it tules. I use to have a windsor. Very harsh highend and upper midrange. Not my cup of tee personally.

Once you find the sweet spot on the volume of your pedals it rules. Crank the volume on your pedals and it drowns the delay out big time.
ShaolinLambKiller wrote:Very nice. But why place all the heads on the ground? I know it's something logical to it, but I'm still curious.
Just prefer them on the floor. Heard it can also extend tube life a bit but mainly just like having them on the floor. Been doing that for the last few years now

I've been looking into a VTM or Windsor for a while, good to know on that.

The VTM is very versatile. I haven't found a clean tone on it that I am fully happy with, but paired up with the Marshall it rounds out the clean tone decently thus far. Next practice I plan on sitting and really fine tuning the two amps together sonically. It handles pedals really well thus far. I have only ran a Blackarts Oath, Blackforest, and Badascan through it but it handled the Oath really well but handles the Badascan beautifully. The gain on tap with that amp is fucking awesome and if I ever do anything where I need a lot of gain and no clean tone, this will be my go to. Has all the heft and cut I could need from a high gain amp like this. It's harsher than the Marshall as far as the top end and pup midrange, but it's not disgusting shrill and ear piercing. The switches on the front panel are pretty awesome and let you sculpt some rad tones. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay. I lucked out on mine and got a pretty awesome deal. I see Windsors going for roughly the same price as what I paid for my VTM and some times more and they just aren't worth it if you want to have more options and a far less shrill top end. The right speakers can tame the Windsors but all in all I would go VTM or find a Marshall single channel head.

Yea never heard that it extended tube life anywhere. But if you are happy with them on the floor. That'd never work for me. All the knobs would get kicked off eventually and generally fucked up.

I am in a 3pc and I stand a good distance away from my amp so I don't have to worry about that happening thankfully. I have had a couple amps almost rattle off the top of cabs before and this just seems safer. Plus I almost knocked an amp off once so I prefer the floor method. Far less distance for them to fall.

Ahh, well small spaces definitely makes for trouble. My last bands first space was my bedroom. I through my bed out and it was super cramped in here with a drum set two guitar players and a bassist. I was tripping over shit constantly.

My unit is roughly 15 x20 and I don't have enough space.
Pic is old.. since that pic the snake skin 212 is gone and is now additionally a 612, 412, and 212 115 cabs, and a Traynor YBA-1A in here now.

How do you decide what to play on? I would just be frozen by all of those choices
Seriously though that's probably the coolest shed on the planet

Thank ya! Yea I'm for the most part house of the solid state empire, though lately I've been getting more tube heads with getting my Sovtek Mig100H back and getting that Traynor. I have a deal in the works where I'd be getting one of those 100w Krank heads one of the signature ones... not that I really want it but he wants to trade for the new Orange CR120... I can just go buy another one brand new so I'm down with that.
Wes Mantooth, there's even more in there than the single pic lets on there's no way to get it all in at once. But I largely decide based on since I've played on so them quite often so I'm familar with all their tones. So when I set foot inside I'm usually got a specific idea or genre I want to play and from there I can easily decide which ones I can immediately cut based on not having the exact tone I'm seeking. and then from there it's taking the few idea I have in mind and playing them on the heads. It's kinda systematic, only time I have to spend a lot of time shaping a tone I want is when it's something new I'm doing that's a genre I've done already and I don't want to have the same set up. So I spend some time tweaking and messing around with shit. I love it.

The fact that 80% of those are ss Ampegs also makes decisions easier, I'm guessing.
Sovteks rule.
Theyre like a swiss army amp, except the swiss are pussies. So it has that mad Russian drunk serial killer thing going on.
