Yo wassup Vid. Second one is the Boss. I could be wrong, but I think you're responding to the prescence of the mids, which imo makes the Boss cut thru a little better than the Mantic. You're the second person who likes the Boss better in a blind test.
Yup, those mids are why I liked it. But that was also why I assumed that wasn't the Boss. Bringing in more mids is a classic boutique cloning thing.
Cool man. Thanks. Yes, this blind test flipped the script for sure with most people who bothered to guess. The Boss is much more present and cutting. I love my Mantic, but always found it had to be bumped up to a higher volume to cut thru. The MT-2 just seems to sit in the mix much more precisely and at normal volumes. I remember when the Metal Zone came out. It was the best thing since sliced bread back then. Amazing how it's so maligned nowadays when it really is a kickass piece. Especially for the price.

Just bought an old MZ-2 Digital Metalizer. Can't wait to see how that sounds.

You have consistently shit on all boutique level pedals dude. Regardless of what site it was on, that's not the point.

This site (once again) was originally created by Devi Ever and is now owned by Tom Dalton (who owns Fuzzhugger). Every single builder on here is a boutique builder. So, you not knowing that is either out of pure ignorance (which I don't buy) or you not giving a fuck.

Again, I'll ask. Why join a community of folks who like that type of gear just to talk poorly about it? Sure you're entitled to your opinions, that's a right and I'm not going to take that away from you. I'm also entitled to ask you why not contribute to something other than these threads you've made about how you can get the same shit from non boutique pedals. Do you honestly think no one here knows that?

We all get it, or most of us do. I own Boss pedals (love them) and I own pedals made by boutique builders.

My one and only suggestion again is to contribute elsewhere. Otherwise, I'm going to consider you a troll and the collective whole might not yet, but they'll get it eventually.
FWIW, I loved every Devi pedal I ever owned and took a whole lot of shit on TB for that. Also have been looking into an Algal Bloom for a while now, but I admit I probably will never buy one new anyway. Boutiques have now been relegated to the "only buy used" category.

I love that album so much. All the 60's/70's experimental noise stuff is so rad.

bump

That clip comparison, whether he's trolling us using the same pedal with a slightly different setting, makes me want to get an MT-2 for bass.

And if it's good for Takeshi...

Maybe look at the ML-2 too, it's supposed to have more low end than the MT-2.

How many times do I have to say that I used a Mantic Vitriol and an MT-2!!! I did not use the same pedal. The fact that people think I did just proves my original point..........the two pedals sound virtually identical with the MT-2 actually winning the blind taste test for those that cared to guess which was which.

Found one of those for like $25 on Reverb yesterday. It's on the way up. It lacks the parametric mid control, but I did read that what you say is correct....it has a lot of bass content.

There's a great video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIyTYV5u27E that shows a bunch of regular old Bosses on bass. The MT-2, Mega Distortion, SD-1 and the MT-2 sounded best to my ears.

I get it dude. Maybe I came off a bit harsh in my original postings. I can be very protective of folks in the industry because I've worked with so many of them on and have developed relationships.

For what it's worth, I do appreciate your input on the circuit and can't wait to see what Mantic has to say. They are waiting approval from Tom to get on here and chime in. Both those dudes are fucking stellar and hilarious. I actually spent more time at their booth harassing them then anyone else at NAMM in 2014. LOL

I'll give you the ILF chance like everyone else gets.

I do want to see everyone here contribute in other ways though. Like be a bro. You are welcome to be one.

One thing we are not is Talkbass and that's for goddamn sure. We even have a mega thread about how much we hate TB. haha

All are welcome here as long as they obey rule number 1 (don't be an asshole) oh and they love fuzz. Except some of the sick fucks out ther that seem to not like fuzz as much. Sometimes they slip through the cracks.

So go post your board homie. Let's see what you're rocking.

OH! And if you're wanting to trade that Vistrol....:)

Also, I just realized I spelled the pedal name wrong. :picard:

Thanks Jwar. I'm very glad we at least reached this detente. You're a fair minded guy and I appreciate that. To the extent that I do post on here, which I actually want to do very little, I think that you'll end up finding that even though I have my opinions, I'm not even remotely like what those TB fools accuse me of.

Back OT, I'd love for Mantic to chime in. I wasn't trying to "expose" them or anything by posting this. I was really only trying to point out that the differences between one of the most hated pedals on planet earth and one of the most hyped (for good reason) boutique's are actually quite small. Personally, I find them different enough that I plan on keeping the Mantic for a long time, but hey, you never know. It may be for sale tomorrow. I also like it a lot because it reminds me of the dashboard of the 75 Dodge Dart my pops used to drive me around in as a boy.
