I quite honestly am impressed with the sound. That filter is legitimately hi-fi enough to be synth-y. Reminds me of all the stuff I used to do with a MOTM 5U modular before I got into euro.
Ever try the EHX Micro Synth? Limited but nice ... but make sure your guitar's output is adequate ...

These new Fanos are pretty sharp and not nearly as expensive as previous models. $200 deposit and/or $1199-1349 total.

Are they made overseas or something? I had it in my mind that Fanos are normally like 3k?

On the low end, they start at about $1900, but some of the nicer ones are $3100-$4500. As for these, I couldn't find anything on assembly info.
