Where does one aquire a pickguard? Only place I found was WD-music, but.... $85 + $40 shipping? Sounds a little steep to me. Would this fit a Squire?

Thanks for the tip, nb, but I usually check Reverb on a daily basis. A few weeks ago there were a bunch of them on there, but now they're all gone. Not a single one left.

I traded my white guard for Schlatte's tort. This is an option, and a cheap one (postage of an enveloppe) if you're looking at tort or white.

Buy with confidence.
I've bought a few guards from Troy (two of them Bass VI) and he cuts great guards!
My favourite of them all was the VI guard made from bakelite material he has. It looks anodized

That's exactly how I use it.
++++
But I'm also unsure of how the chords would come out on the VI. Muddy? Experiences?
Still haven't tried one cuz I'm like, living in a backwater.

I recorded this when I got the VI. At that time it was still full stock, even the strings. That should give you an idea.

Chords shouldn't be muddy as long as you use single coil pickups, reasonable amounts of gain, and set the eq on your amp properly. Also, for chords I tend to favour the bridge pickup, especially below the 5th fret or so. Higher up the neck it doesn't really matter.
