I must say though that I have enjoyed Ramsay Bolton quite a lot, casting Iwan Rheon was a great choice. I've also found myself a lot more sympathetic towards Theon in the show than I did in the books, maybe because I knew what was happening and I was less angry at him

possible book spoilers or something. i am bringing up a book spoiler that i accidentally read recently.
i was wondering if the tv show took any liberties with the way jon snow got back to castle black on the SHOW vs the book.
a simple yes or no on that account would be plenty, thank you

I just watched all three seasons, since I heard about the "red wedding." People made it sound like every gat damn person died in it. So I thinks to myself, "A show that kills all the main characters? That's ballsy. I like balls." Not everybody died, but it was still a bit upsetting (even though I was bracing for it the whole time). Feel like The Hound is all I got left in the show. I'm really interested in reading the books now, but I hear people complaining about extraneous detail and I can't put up with that shit.

looooove the books. yeah, parts could be streamlined. but they're awesome.
so far everything they've changed i like better or i understand why they did. sorta bugs me that Tyrion (so. GOOD.) is a handsome little Mini House instead the ugly goblin from the books, but i like the little nerd nod asides they put in.
"well what? it's not like i got my nose cut off." after the battle where Pod saved him.
DOES annoy me that Martin is slacking on the books, probably won't finish them before he dies, yet he said he has the rest of the series mapped out for the tv show in case he does.
RUDE.

I was a bit disappointed that Tyrion wasn't ugly too at first but Peter Dinklage is so damn good who could complain?
Eh, I can understand GRRM not wanting to write these books 24/7 till they're done. I bet I'd be bored of a series I'd been writing for what, 15 years or so?

hahaha, I'm under no illusions about his slow writing time. It'll happen though. Plus it's like the only series I wouldn't be crazily upset if somebody finished it after he died, because let's be honest, the actual writing is not the strong bit so as long as he gives a competent writer a story outline we'll still get it. I mean, with any luck he'll live a long time and finish them himself plus more, but if the worst comes to the worst it's all cool.

noooooooo i love you but i couldna disagree more. i HATE when Not The Author take over after author existence failure.
and yeah, he gets bogged down in intricacies some times, but the way he writes the characters is what hooks me. he has this GIGANTIC cast and they're all really distinct from each other.
and for his ramblings.... mebbe he focuses on what mead and food and heraldic symbol or whatever too much... but SO much better than that hack Tolkien jerking off into his inkwell as he describes a tree for 78 pages.

Nope nope nope! It's not the level of detail I dislike about the writing in GoT, it's the general boring workmanlike way his words are put together. It's competently written and the story and characters are great, but the writing itself has no real beauty.
I need to point out that I think people taking over series after the original author died is TERRIBLE. I hate it! But imo the writing in GoT isn't that special and therefore I'd have fewer negative feelings about it since it's hardly someone taking over from somebody who writes wonderful prose.

Lateralus was the last interesting Tool album.
If Georgy Porgy managed to convey his level of detail in the same manner that Tolstoy does, these would be the perfect Fantasy series. But he fails. Miserably.
I've said this before, but he's just like Asimov. Amazing characters, intricate plots, terrible writing.

Funny, that's exactly how I feel about Tolkien, except for the interesting characters part.
