I have a les paul studio with a bigsby on it which gives it a bit of a brighter tone to my ears. That and an lollar in the bridge which what I mostly stick to on the guitar, I kinda like it as my standard E guitar but I know that it is be completely spectacular with a low tuning. I was looking at a jag or jazzy just for an entirely different guitar feel/tone and if you guys can pull it off I may do that instead of overspending on an explorer.

The cab is an avatar 2x12 with classic lead 80's. I've thought about getting an emperor because I live in Chicago which makes it a bit easier to get both second hand and new. At the same time, I don't hate my cab, just think it's meh plus I generally use backline stuff for practicing and borrow for gigs but you know how that goes. I was debating because I sometimes get this feeling that emperor may be just over hyped especially with the chicago crowd.

If your looking for a second guitar that will give you contrast to an LP studio a Jag or Jazz with single coils would be the way to go in my opinion. Those two together would cover alot of ground sonically, but you may find that the LP sounds better tuned low in comparison.

I don't think Emperor's are over hyped. I have 4 and love em, they sound and look great, its just that their customer service can definitely be hit or miss. I personally have never had a problem with them, but there are plenty of people who have, Conky being one of them they royally screwed the pooch with him. But if you live in chicago and can get a used one on the cheaps that is definitely the way to go, and it would definitely be an improvement over the avatar. Not that avatars are bad cabs, but they cut alot of corners to keep the price down. They don't even make the cabs, they have a subleted builder that builds them for them and they just tolex them and put their badge on them.

Yeah I think I'm gonna get a single coil jag and just detune the LP to cover everything I could possibly need.

I think I'm gonna wait on the cab, I'm interested in an emperor but I might toy around with it since I got my cab for the cheap, and until I start giggin seriously I doubt I would need it. A guitar sounds more like something I could use than just a bigger cab. My or120 is already balls out loud anyway. Although I kinda want a tall cab from those guys just to save space as I don't have much of it when I do end up getting one in the future.

That wall of amps is awesome.

I think there is something wrong. For the last 2 weeks I have not had a single dirt pedal on my board. I have been running my 2204 dimed and have been getting the best tone out of it. The other guitarist is using nothing but his amp's dirt too. I really love the dirty in betweens we get when we roll our volume knobs (volume pedal in my case). WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME?!?!?!
