So, Behndy, the reason the Bass Whammy is so gnars bars, and why they totally should've done it like ten years ago, has to do with the 5th/Octave harmony. With the pedal on in the heel position, you've got your note and a fifth up coming through the speakers. Toe down is the note and an octave up harmony, and since the shift bends happen in real time you can get some really cool things happening with it. Not that you can't do the same thing with the other Harmony modes, but as far as fairly traditional "Rock" sounds are concerned, 5th/Octave is far and away the most useful.

I sold my Whammy IV, but I think I'll definitely pick one of these up.

innnnnteresssting.

i would never have room on board for one of those, but i'd be into trying that.

..... that's something you could program an H9 to do though i think?

Possibly, but thats a $500 price point (plus an expression ped) compared to sub $200.

The biggest con to ANY of the original whammy's was the bypass. It took any possible fun/practical use out of the pedal...Just absolutely horrible tone suckage when bypassed. They fixed it on the last reissue so this looks to be the same.

I'm interested to play around with it but, meh... it doesn't make me moist like the HM-2 I just picked up. Damn, I missed that thing.

H9 could totally do it, pitch flex would be the easiest to use, but h910/h949 could also be set up to do it.

Another option is the line6 mSeries. An m5 + expression pedal can be had for about $150 and you get way more out of it than just a pitch shifter. I A/B'd my roommates whammyIV to the m series and whammy didn't track as well or have as many options.

I think the only way this bass whammy could interest me is if tracks well polyphonically.

I think this one has the polyphonic tracking that they introduced a model or two ago.

The bass whammy IS the whammy v, tweaked for bass. That means it has true bypass, standard power supply, same selectable pitch tracking algorithms, etc..

Probably gonna pick up the bass whammy, I miss the red one and I'm sure the bass one will be even cooler!
