Red knobbers came out later?

Looks to be in beautiful shape.

Yeah Gen.2 had the red knobs, Fairly certain they first came out in 1975 (with silver knobs and they changed that to red in 76?). As much as people say they're the same as the Gen.1 except for the mids select switch they're really quite different from an engineering point of view. This one is in pretty amazing condition so I won't mod it, but I have another one at home (I'm living in Melbourne at the moment for work and picked this up to use down here) that I've modded.

There's a wire to cut to get rid of a weird master volume problem (it bogs down at 8-10 and has less bass response and actually gets quieter), I got rid of the mid selector and made that true bypass, changed a cap in the 2nd stage preamp and moved the circuitry of the tone controls to the after side of that stages tube.

Mind you, I did that about 5 years ago so my memory could be a bit hazy but that's all I remember doing. They're a great amp as they are, but with a little fiddling I like them even more than the Gen.1

If your kitten loves doom you know not to drown it.

I think REDKNOB (capslock for awesome) is a more bass-friendly version, IRRC.

Congrats, man! Those amps are stupid expensive these days, so to find one in Aus for $1500 is pretty good.

Over here the red ones seem to go for less than the original? I might have to track one down eventually from your description, Doesy :thumb:

Yep, Stateside they definitely go for less, anything Sunn over here goes for a silly amount. I assume because people have had to get them imported and then converted to Australian power plugs with a ground. That's my 3rd 2nd gen. model T, I'd love to get my hands on a 1st Gen but I'm not paying the ridiculous amounts I've seen them going for lately.

I'll get a photo of some more of my gear when I get more of it down here. There's a box in my garage somewhere full of homemade effects.

Thats about $1410 usd. Well done sir. I don't know that they are worth that to me, but they certainly go for a lot more.

I've realized that I am to cheap to spring for a Model T. so I'll probably never own one. I'm ok with it. I've come to terms with it. Moved on.

WANT!

Actually having a 1200s from 69 is good enough for me. That thing just has so much balls on tap. I'd love to find another, or a 2000s, or a Model T, but I have a feeling the only way that will happen is if a senile old musicians spouse has a garage sale and puts it out not knowing.

The Sunn is super rad, but goddammit that Bubs meme is my new favorite thing.

That is one sweet steal man! $1500 for a Sunn in Melbourne is doing well.
Let me know if you're ever in need of effects, you're probably the only person on here who can actually come try stuff out before purchase!

I might take you up on that, I've never had anyone to shoot the shit about actually building pedals before. I know a bunch of people who use custom/home made stuff but no-one that actually builds!

The server problems have been keeping from my love of fuzziness...so to fill that void I bought another cab.

Peavey 412F, got her for $120, absolutely killer guitar cab with the PA200. From chimey cleans to filthy sludge, all straight in.

Very nice, I wasn't sure about those cabs. I went to a show where everyone was sharing gear and well the tone overall sucked a dick. They all were using that cab but I can't remember if they were changing on the head or if they were using the same head. So i was pretty much wasn't sure which one was the culprit... so it sounds like it was the head in my instance. I think it was some newer generic marshall.
