Flatwounds, 10-52 on guitar would be 50's on bass. I'd suggest gettign 45's or even 40's since you have weakguitar hands.

Out of curiosity; Is it a Jap Squier? Chinese, Indonesian or Korean?
I advocate for Flats on it as well,...gauge is going to depend on whether you are going with standard tuning or drop tunings. That said there is certainly nothing wrong with rounds. Depends on the sound you want. I think Flats respond better to fuzzes and octavers (if you plan on using effects).
If it isn't a Jap Squier,...I also advocate for a PUP and pot upgrade,...not to mention tuner and bridge upgrades,...but I have a feeling Mr. Teef has considered all that.
but then im like maybe i should just hock it off and buy something cool
