yeah it's real tricky buying gear when your amp changes how your pedals sound and your bass changes how your amp sounds etc. patience is very useful hahaha. I try to buy stuff that I like on it's own, you know like buying clothes instead of outfits or something (do people really do that? someone told me they do that )
Like my last bass amp didn't sound great with all my basses so I found an amp that did.

But I hear what you are saying, I have bought more then one instrument because it was cool at the store and it never sounded good through any of my stuff. and I whould end up hating it and being mad at myself for blowing the money and end up selling it or taking it back, which actually turned out better on the taking it back, I took back a Les paul shaped bass and ended up leaving with a really old fretless Pbass for a bit more
